Career Opportunity - Co-Executive Director with Healing Broken Circles in Columbus, OH

As the Co-Executive Director at Healing Broken Circles (HBC), you will collaborate with the Co-Director and the HBC Board to develop, implement, and expand HBC's programs, projects, and operational capacity. You will be instrumental in advancing HBC's mission to provide opportunities for healing, learning, and thriving for those of us impacted by the justice system.

As the Co-Executive Director, you will have considerable latitude and opportunities to grow in leadership and be creative and innovative, while contributing positively to social change. You will:

  • Collaborate in shaping and articulating the vision, mission, approach, unique value proposition, and overall strategy and direction of the organization; take responsibility for the external facing representation and promotion of the organization.
  • Advocate for transformation of the criminal legal system and for support of affected communities; build and maintain strong relationships with justice-impacted individuals and communities to ensure their voices are central to the organization's work.
  • Collaborate with the Board and staff to recruit and retain diverse membership, provide updates, and support governance and mission alignment; prioritize programmatic excellence, organizational sustainability, and a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative work culture.
  • Generate and implement strategic fundraising plans for growth beyond a $300,000 budget; engage foundations and funders to build new relationships and cultivate major donors.
  • Oversee grant opportunity tracking; draft, review, and edit grant proposals and reports, as well as donor materials; develop and execute earned income plan.
  • Oversee financial management, including budgeting, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and resource allocation.
  • Meet regularly with staff and provide the leadership and direction needed to ensure all have what they need to perform their duties successfully; evaluate current personnel processes, identify gaps, create tools, and enact policies to improve efficiency.
  • Ensure that facilities, equipment, and technology adequately support the organization's work; oversee intern and volunteer schedules and work assignments.

The ideal candidate will want to grow and advance with the organization, and have:

  • Prior management leadership or management experience in a nonprofit, preferred; prior success in fundraising strategy, including campaigns, major donors, foundation, and grants, preferred.
  • Prior success in working closely with and building relationships with staff, partnerships, clients, donors, and diverse groups of people.
  • Working knowledge of the U.S. criminal legal system or a passion to educate oneself; understanding of Greater Columbus philanthropic community or willingness to learn.
  • Experience in project preparation and implementation plans, with a strong comfort level for planning and executing multiple projects within required timeframes.
  • Possess a very high level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness.

We offer a hybrid work environment in Columbus, Ohio and flexible schedule;

30 – 40 hours a week. Generous PTO with professional development and advancement opportunities.

Compensation starting at $50,000 - $70,000, depending on experience and hours.
