Job Description:Do you have a passion for healthcare and helping others? Are you able to triage, assist with invasive procedures, administer medications and assess patients to ensure adequate patient care standards are met? If you are a licensed Paramedic, we would love for you to join our team! What you'll need:Basic Life Support (BLS) certification prior to date of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications required prior to hire.Recommended ITLS certification within 6 months of hire.Must possess IV certification upon hire. Must possess knowledge of and ability to apply emergency medical theory, practices, techniques and methods.Must have the visual and auditory ability to assess patient conditions in order to administer effective care using standard ER procedures. Must have the ability to verbally communicate and problem solve effectively with patient, staff, physicians and families Must have manual dexterity to perform such functions as drawing up and administering injections, inserting catheters, starting and administering IV solutions and performing BLS, ACLS and PALS. Must have the physical agility to respond in a quick manner and in accordance with established facility practice regarding unexpected safety issues. May be required to assist with lifting and transferring of patients. What you'll do: Provides patient care to emergency department patients in accordance with established policies and procedures and within scope of practice. Admits patients to the emergency department, assesses needs, identifies problems, plans and implements emergency care, establishes priorities of care and evaluates care provided. Carries out physician orders, reviews patient medication records, prepares, administers, and records medications and IV solutions. Starts and discontinues IV's. Observes patient condition and vital signs; evaluates findings and records observation in the record; notifies physician of any adverse or abnormal findings in a timely manner; administers routine, scheduled and emergency treatments according to physician's orders. Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment and examination of patients. Reviews and completes records and forms to ensure continuity and quality of patient care. Responds to all situations based upon hospital standards, policies, procedures and protocol. Responsible with assisting the Assistant Director of Nursing or Unit Based Educator for teaching personnel in the area of new techniques and changes in policy.
