Collection Specialist - ParalegalDepartment: Legal Employment Type: Full Time Location: Corporate - New York Compensation: $55,000 - $80,000 / year DescriptionPosition Summary Initiate and manage legal processes with tenants who fail to comply with the terms and conditions of leases and other legal agreements. Responsibilities
- Reviewing arrears reports for all properties in the portfolio and identifying underperforming assets.
- Developing collection strategies to optimize collections.
- Coordinate with the legal team on the commencement of the collection process
- Communicate with outside attorneys on the collection of arrears for current and former tenants.
- Coordinate with property managers on the collection of outstanding arrears
- Contact residents regarding outstanding balances
- Resolve billing issues with residents and coordinate with the accounting department to correct billing errors.
- Draft and monitor payment plan agreements.
- Act as a company representative in upholding quality customer service and a positive company image by resolving customer account inquiries.
Key Responsibilities
- General knowledge and understanding of the law, legal terms, and Landlord-Tenant Law
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Ability to multi-task
- Knowledge of the Yardi system is very important.
- Ability to engage in telephone communications in a professional manner.
- Ability to use and understand Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to write and communicate effectively.
