SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Collections Analyst maintains collection of balances on an assigned portfolio of customer accounts and coordinates the credit application process and reporting tools as needed for the AR Department.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Works assigned portfolio, (value of approximately $20 million dollars) of customer accounts to ensure timely collection of balances to minimize delinquency

* Actively improves customer relationships within portfolio and effectively meets cash flow objectives of the company

* Initiates the improvement of reporting tools for the department

* Coordinates the Credit Application process for new accounts. This includes gathering references and understanding the financial reporting tools used at each account

* Reconciles customer claims and deductions for accounts assigned in portfolio

* Manages Cash In Advance accounts specifically monthly reporting and reconciliation

* Completes portal billing for customers

* Actively improves internal relationships with Sales and Customer Service through collections activities

* Assists the Credit Manager on special projects as needed

* Acts as a backup for the receptionist (approximately 2 hours each week)

EDUCATION:

Required: High School Diploma or the Equivalent

Preferred: Associates Degree in Business

EXPERIENCE:

Required:

* Minimum 5 years related work experience in credit and collections and account reconciliation

* Experience in report writing and project coordination

SKILLS:

Required:

* Strong Microsoft Excel and Word capabilities

* Strong analytical skills for problem solving & account reconciliation

* Experience in creating and improving reporting tools for the credit function while working with an IT department

* Strong verbal/written communication, interpersonal, organizational & negotiating skills

* Knowledge of ERP computer systems (preferably Oracle) & applications as it relates to the credit function
