In this role, you'll be an essential part of our mission to inspire creativity and imagination in children throughout the world with thoughtfully designed toys that spark free play.ROLE OVERVIEWAs a Collections Specialist, you will be responsible for collecting outstanding debts owed to the company, as well as reconciling and timely management of customer deductions for the organization's key accounts, including Amazon. You should be able to review and audit deductions to determine their validity and seek repayment or issue credits to the customer as necessary. This position will work with the Melissa & Doug operations and logistics teams and interact with customers to clarify any deductions questions. The successful candidate should be able to understand and translate large amounts of numbers and financial information, negotiate tactfully, and persistently contact people of interest to collect the value owed.RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and maintain a tracking system of late payments and deductions in adherence with the collections strategy and work directly with customers to dispute invalid claims and collect on past due items
  • Collaborate with internal partners to identify root causes for non-payment and achieve solutions through to successful completion.
  • Negotiate repayment and financial plans as needed
  • Assess credit worthiness based on a credit investigation and financial analysis of new customer credit applications
  • Make recommendations to decrease or revoke customer credit limits based on financial information and payment history
  • Effectively communicate internal issues impacting collections process with management and key stakeholders
  • Participate in order-to-cash technology enhancement projects
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or related field preferred
  • 6-8 years of previous experience as a collector, with a focus on resolving open deductions
  • Large retail customer experience (e.g., Amazon, Target, etc.) preferred
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel); working knowledge of ERP systems other financial software
  • Demonstrated evidence of improving the collection process
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Self-motivated and self-directed; able to work without supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to create trust and build relationships
  • Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions
