Collections Specialist | On-Site | Suffolk, VA | $18/hr | Contract with potential extension

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Collections Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in collections, accounts receivable, and cash application. This role involves contacting customers to collect past due invoices, processing daily deposits, and maintaining accurate records of customer accounts. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, have strong communication skills, and possess a basic understanding of Excel and ERP systems.

Responsibilities:

+ Contact customers via phone, email, and/or fax to request payment information on past due invoices.

+ Print statements from P21 and prepare PDF statements.

+ Download statements to Excel.

+ Process daily mail related to customer payments.

+ Copy received checks and distribute them appropriately.

+ Prepare and take daily bank deposits when necessary.

+ Post all payments to customer accounts.

+ Reconcile customer receivable accounts by contacting customers regarding balance discrepancies and payments made.

+ Follow up with Customer Service on short pays, returns, pricing, and sales tax issues.

+ Download account information into Excel as needed.

+ Maintain cash receipts in date order and place files in archives as needed.

Essential Skills:

+ 1+ years of collections experience (B2C or B2B).

+ Basic understanding of Excel.

+ Experience with accounts receivable and cash application.

+ Experience with collections accounts receivable.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

+ Experience with Epicor Prophet 21 (P21) ERP or similar difficult systems.

+ Strong communication and organizational skills.

+ Ability to process various payment types (Credit card, ACH, etc.).

Work Environment:

This position is fully onsite from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM with a one-hour lunch break. The role requires working in an office environment, utilizing various technologies and equipment to perform daily tasks.
