CollectorReports To: Community Manager Position Overview: As a Collector we will be relying on you to manage several different office management responsibilities including preparing various professional correspondence, answering phones and greeting customers/residents, collecting payments from existing residents, and maintaining adequate levels of office supplies and office equipment. You will also be depended upon to follow up on any delinquencies and to work with residents in coordinating payment on rent, in- house utilities, fees, penalties, home damages, write-offs, YES recourse loans, etc. This will likely include cold calling, knocking on residents' homes, sending text messages, sending emails, etc. to collect on past due accounts. Essential Functions:
  • Answer phones and greet customers in a courteous and professional manner
  • Prepare and hand deliver correspondence including collection notices as directed by management
  • Manage active bankruptcies as relates to rent payment
  • Maintain office files
  • Order and verify receipt of supplies
  • Maintain office equipment
  • Collect and process payments from residents and assist them with electronic payment set-up
  • Follow up with any delinquent rent or YES Recourse loan accounts and coordinate repayment
  • Create and maintain a positive Community environment
  • Create and ensure a safe work environment
  • Follow safety precautions and procedures
  • Complete all work in a timely manner, without sacrificing quality
  • Work with legal counselors to plan and execute legal proceedings in association to accounts not collected
  • Maintain professional behavior without interfering with the individual's work, interrupting the work of another team- member, or disturbing the quality of life for Community residents
  • Document collection efforts in property management systems
  • Work with loan partners on collection efforts on loan modifications and assumptions
  • Provide backup support for the Sales and Leasing Agent or other community team members
  • Follow all Fair Housing and proper collection practices
  • Duties subject to change, as deemed appropriate by Management
  • Additional duties as assigned by management and are subject to change
Required Skills:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated, independent, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Highly engaged with immediate supervisor and team
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office software products
Education and Experience:
  • A valid in-state driver's license is required
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • Previous collections experience
