Position SummaryThe Michigan State University College of Nursing is seeking applications for our College Alumni Coordinator position. This position will coordinate the alumni activities of the College of Nursing with the goal of helping alumni to establish a lifelong relationship with their alma mater while celebrating the diversity of the alumni community and students from all backgrounds. This is accomplished by increasing involvement and engagement of alumni in activities and events; keeping them informed of events happening in the college; involving alumni in college boards, activities and programs; and building inclusive connections by providing services that keep alumni networked within the College as well as with their alumni peers. The College Alumni Coordinator will coordinate the college alumni board and assist the college alumni board with strategies to increase involvement and charitable participation in the College. The standard work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include occasional night and weekend travel for various college events.Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:Plans and coordinates college alumni activities and events and other college events as necessary and assigned.Serves as liaison and executive secretary to the College of Nursing Alumni Board, including serving as the official and formal communication link between the College of Nursing and the Alumni Board.Plans, coordinates, and/or assists with development events such as groundbreakings, dedications, campaign meetings, endowed chair/professorship investitures, and scholarship events with a strong focus on diversity, representation, inclusive excellence, and equity.Coordinates with the Alumni Board and College leaders to ensure alumni award nominations are submitted and recipients chosen for the College's Student & Alumni Awards Banquet, prioritizing equity and inclusion in the selection process.Communicates with College of Nursing alumni through the alumni website, The Frontline Newsletter, alumni magazine, and surveys.Utilize MSU central advancement and marketing resources in addition to joining groups of marketing and communications professional groups nationally to develop and implement a creative strategic plan that reflects principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.All team members in the College of Nursing carry a leadership role that fosters a sense of inclusion, belonging and servant leadership. This includes:Demonstrate a commitment to long term, sustained action that increases inclusive practices in health equity across the CONIntentionally create an environment that encourages a sense of belonging, inclusive learning, work, and clinical service environments that enable everyone to reach their full potentialRecognize that inclusion is a journey and strive to move along the continuum of embracing experiences and resources that address anti-racist and anti-oppressive ideas while acknowledging the inward and outward systems that influence bias and cultural awarenessStrive to be a champion of inclusive practices that lead and transform others and creates initiatives that change structural systems within nursing education which have historically inhibited, disenfranchised, marginalized, and unintentionally excluded underrepresented communitiesMinimum RequirementsKnowledge normally acquired by completing a four- year college degree program in Business, Communication Arts, Marketing or related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in higher education fundraising, event coordination, public speaking; or and equivalent combination of education and experience.Additional Qualifications
