College Assistant (Hourly) - IT Academic Technology Support
GENERAL DUTIES
+ Under supervision, performs miscellaneous clerical, administrative, research or other work related to the operation of a College or other unit where such work is required on a part-time basis or for a period of limited duration.
+ There is one Assignment Level for this position. All personnel perform related work. This specification describes typical assignments; related duties may be assigned as needed.
+ Maximum tenure for any employee in this hourly position is 1040 hours per year.
+ Performs routine clerical work; may answer and attend to telephone calls; maintain records, operate office machines (such as copier), sort and distribute mail, issue keys and identity cards, act as messenger, and perform related tasks as required.
+ Types letters, memoranda, charts, and similar materials.
+ Acts as cashier.
+ Assists in statistical or research activities. May collect and compile data, code data for computer entry, perform data entry, and run computer reports.
+ Performs clerical library work, such as sorting and shelving books, performing data entry into library systems, or binding books and periodicals.
+ Assists in instructional programs, including tutoring and assisting students in areas such as reading and mathematics. May assist in speech and hearing therapy, provide musical accompaniment, and/or distribute and collect physical education equipment.
+ Enters and maintains departmental records such as inventory control records, rosters, directories, and schedules.
+ May operate computers, computer software, and other electronic equipment in performing assigned tasks.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
This is a part time position. The candidate will report to the Director of Educational Technology. The incumbent should have a basic understanding of routine work involving the transportation, setting-up, operation and preventative maintenance of audio-visual and related electronic equipment such as; laptops, video conference unit, portable microphone/speaker, video and photographic cameras, portable public address systems. This position will assist the unit with a variety of tasks which include:
+ Set up the audio and video equipment and computer systems for lecture halls, classrooms, and conference rooms for small groups, exams, and staff meetings; Daily inspection of classroom equipment; assists in coordinating equipment and system repair as required.
+ Deliver and pick up multimedia and computer equipment in a timely manner, making sure that all equipment is in working order when delivered; Transport equipment using carts or other supportive tools across campus locations when needed.
+ Assist with the video recording software to capture lectures and provide assistance with saving or uploading the lectures to a central repository; Provide technical support and monitoring of the laptops used for student exams.
+ Maintain equipment inventory by updating a log with the serial number, equipment name and type, and building location;
+ Assists in the training of student scribes; Assists faculty and staff with resolving online and desktop application technical issues.
+ Provide technical and equipment set up support for school functions, student activities, and commencement ceremony.
+ May perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Educational Technology or designee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Must demonstrate sufficient skills to perform the duties of the assigned tasks.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
PREFERRED:
+ 1 to 2 years of experience in A/V and desktop support.
+ Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
+ Experience with video conferencing systems and streaming technology such as livestream.
+ Familiarity with smart classroom technology such as Extron.
+ Strong written and oral communications skills.
+ Ability to work independently or within a team setting.
+ Prior experience or internship within IT in higher education or in medical field a plus.
COMPENSATION
This is a part-time position of up to 20 hours per week, scheduling of the days can be worked out.
Hourly rate is $20.00 per hour commensurate with experience. Appointment is on a per semester basis and subject to budgetary and renewal approval.
