Summary Of The Role At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The College & Career Bound Case Manager is a critical role that supports our high school youth as they explore and navigate the important transitions that come with high school graduation. Dedicated to the support of youth, this position provides case management, guidance, and holistic development that guides academic planning, career and college exploration, and navigation through the admissions process. The College & Career Bound Case Manager is designs and facilitates year-round programming that prepares youth for essay writing and applications, navigating financial aid and applying for scholarships, SAT prep and general testing, exploring careers, and college visit opportunities. In addition to management of programming, this position builds a sense of community and belonging through outreach and community engagement. A successful candidate for this role will be committed to the social, emotional, and personal development of high school students and lead with trauma-informed practices. This position supports the Mar Vista Gardens Club and collaborates with other positions that support teen programming. Essential Functions of the Position § Lead outreach in the community and local high schools to recruit teens for the college bound program. Build strong partnership, and design strategies for engagement. § Build partnerships with post-secondary intuitions. § Build relationships with teen club members to explore their hopes and dreams for future college and career options. § Provide individualized case management and a mix of one on one and group meetings for college bound students. This includes hosting workshops and bringing in guest speakers. § Collaborate with the Main Branch College Bound Case Manager to expand services to more youth and execute consistent programming across the clubs. § Support and lead SAT prep workshops and provide critical career and college resources related to testing, applications, apprenticeships, and financial aid. § Administer assessments and analyze or interpret test results and transcripts to provide guidance and information about educational, career, and personal or social needs. § Illustrate and support goal setting activities with youth, that align with their goals and dreams. § Center youth voice and experiences throughout the case management practice. This includes advocating for their preferences, demonstrating boundary setting, and other skills important to educational and career transitions. § Plan and lead college trips and outings throughout the year, and specifically during the summer. RequirementsExperiences You'll Bring § Experience and training in high school and college counseling. Ideally, you will have lived experience navigating post-secondary options within higher education. § Demonstrated experience developing curriculum and programming for youth, specifically engaging teens and older youth. § Knowledge of and the ability to establish relationships within the Santa Monica and L.A. nonprofit community, local school districts, colleges, and universities. Have worked with interdisciplinary and collaborative teams. § Background engaging with school administrations, counselors within the district. Existing relationships with local high schools. § Strong case management skills. § Demonstrated experience with recruitment for after school programming, building rapport with youth, and engagement tactics for youth. § Strong writing and presentation skills with the ability to communicate your ideas clearly and for diverse audiences. Experience with digital platforms: Teams, Zoom, Excel, PowerPoint, and case management or databases are required. Qualifications for the Ideal Candidate ? B.A. Required in education, counseling, social work, sociology, psychology, or youth development, Equivalent experience directly serving youth in a similar role may be substituted on a year-by-year basis. Masters preferable. ? Broad knowledge base and understanding of Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District, youth serving nonprofits and programs dedicated to teens and workforce readiness for young adults. ? Training and understanding of trauma-informed practices, SEL curriculum, and motivational interviewing. ? Experience designing programming, hosting events, workshops, and community engagement. ? Exposure to equity, diversity, inclusion, and access training or development opportunities. ? Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and/or holidays. ? Must be able to pass background checks, fingerprinting, and TB test? Must obtain/maintain a current CPR & First Aid Certification upon employment. ? Bilingual or multilingual with Spanish is preferred, but not required. Salary Description $22/hour
