The employee is expected to work in a multi-cultural, diverse working environmentNOTE: This is a 4/10 position. You will work a 10 hour shift for 4 consecutive days (Monday - Thursday) Typical Duties This description is intended to indicate the types of duties and responsibilities requested of the employee assigned this title. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the duties and responsibilities that may be required:
  • Monitors safety and security of work area, equipment, supplies and materials; maintains cleanliness of work areas and ensures compliance with College environmental, health, and safety programs and procedures as well as all applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulations in accordance with OCC's Laboratory Supervision Procedure.
  • Operates, maintains, and services equipment with significant known safety hazards (extreme temperatures/burns, crush/pinch, severing/shearing, cutting/puncture, high voltage/amperage, rotational/entanglement, oxygen displacement, known carcinogens, high noise exposure).
  • Demonstrates and supervises students on proper and safe use of all automotive tools, lifts, trainers and testing equipment.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving skills for collision auto repair.
  • Create, log and maintain instructor requested equipment changes, and track faults placed on specific lab vehicles, and student diagnostic repair training aids.
  • Moves, prepares, and cuts material, toolboxes, test equipment and trainers for student and instructor use.
  • Operates a forklift to receive equipment and materials, empty scrap gondolas, and move and organize storage.
  • Safely loads/unloads, transports, and installs high-pressure gas cylinders to their appropriate storage areas. Ensures proper start-up/shut down procedures for gas lines are utilized.
  • Prepares and facilitates use of non-destructive testing chemicals, correctly prepares and uses various greases, solvents, and oils for use within vehicles, equipment, and for equipment maintenance.
  • Maintains inventories, budgets, and orders supplies in accordance with college purchasing procedures, prepares maintenance work orders, and arranges for outside repairs of equipment and instruments, as necessary.
  • Coordinates management of regulated hazardous waste for Collision Auto Repair discipline with on-site Materials Specialist, including waste accumulation and waste disposal, in compliance with college EHS programs, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintains yearly hazardous chemical inventory for Collision Auto Repair and reports to EHS manager, tests and records safety showers and eyewash stations monthly, maintains first aid inventory.
  • Serves as a back-up for faculty members in providing basic safety supervision of students in a laboratory session when faculty may be momentarily absent, in accordance with OCC's Laboratory Supervision Procedure.
  • Coordinates and supervises open lab hours.
  • Sets up lab experiments.
  • Issues and checks-in instruments, teaching aids, supplies, equipment, and materials.
  • Travelsoff-campustoobtainsuppliesandmaterials;deliversandpicksup equipment and instruments to be repaired.
  • Coordinateswithshipping,receiving,andfacilitiesfordeliveriesofequipmentandmaterials.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50lbs from floor to waist height. Able to lift a minimum of 40lbs from floor to overhead.
  • Mixes and stores paints as needed.
  • Performs necessary clerical duties and functions.
  • Trains and directs college student personnel with appropriate approval.
  • Perform other related tasks, as assigned.
  • Ability to work additional hours, as needed.
  • Minimum Education and Experience An earned Associate's degree or higher in Collision Automotive Repair. -OR-Any associate degree or higher with 16 college credits in Collision Automotive Repair AND two (2) years of work experience in automotive collision repair with demonstrated knowledge of industry standards. -OR-Industry Related Certifications AND five (5) years of automobile collision repair experience with demonstrated knowledge of industry standards.
