Job Description:
One of the nation's largest power supply cooperatives in Alabama is seeking Combustion Turbine Technicians. You will be responsible for the performance, operations, and maintenance of the combustion turbine technologies and electric generating assets at a powerplant facility located in Birmingham, AL. The Combustion Tech is responsible for the effective, efficient, compliant, and safe operation of the power plant and its auxiliary systems and equipment.The candidate is responsible for operating and monitoring the status of all plant systems on a continuous basis to ensure that the plant meets its generating requirements while operating in a safe and efficient manner, and in compliance with all applicable permits, codes, and regulations.Plant operations include but are not limited to plant start-up and shutdown and routine maintenance and repair of gas turbine/generation, ancillary equipment, and all instruments, control systems, and electronic instrumentation. You are responsible for all plant operations activities during assigned shift, performing routine inspections, monitoring and logging of operating components to provide accurate and reliable operation and reporting of plant status. This includes responding to alarms by taking appropriate corrective actions. - Promote safety, environmental and regulatory excellence - exhibit leadership in shaping the plant's safety, environmental and regulatory culture - Operate the facility within compliance of all state and federal permits and regulations- Required to adhere to the company policies and comply with all site specific safety requirements and procedures- Operate, monitor and track normal operations of the plant equipment- Utilize procedures developed in the plant operating manuals to shut down and start-up plant equipment with the goal being to achieve safe, consistent and optimum plant output- Test and treat water chemistry control as per written procedures Maintain timely and accurate recordkeeping of operating logs, timesheets, work orders and other administrative documents as required- Investigate and troubleshoot plant issues to correct problems, and or provide feedback, analysis and recommendations- Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs mechanical and de-energized electrical equipment. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, the gas turbine and auxiliary components, gas compressors, motors, pumps, and other auxiliary equipment- Participates in the administrative maintenance and upgrading of operating manuals, preventive/predictive maintenance procedures, technical references, prints and diagrams- Assist with the training of new and existing operators and other plant staffBase salary, eligible for overtime, affordable medical, vision, dental, 401k match.
