He or she will need to complete engineering projects by planning, organizing and controlling project elements in the Houston office and be competent in handling simultaneously occurring tasks and smaller projects. These projects could be for a municipality, county government, TXDOT or any other private client or public agencies. The disciplines that you will be working ranges from water, wastewater, drainage, roadway, and structural engineering.Ongoing Work:
- Provide engineering and consulting services for broad array of projects.
- Prepare, write and review related reports for the service provided. Review material testing reports to assure compliance with plans and specifications.
- Prepare proposal and cost estimates, track and evaluate project progress, budgets and review invoices of assigned projects.
- Assign, review and evaluate laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.
- Communicate to project team or client representative to resolve noncompliance reports and other testing related issues.
- Co-ordinate with technicians for project related services. Services may be provided for existing or proposed projects in the Public works, transportation, commercial, energy or industrial sectors.
- Perform special inspection and construction material testing for building, transportation and commercial projects.
- Maintain quality standards on all projects assigned.
- Proficient and responsible for managing and executing small to medium projects of minimal complexity.
- Attend progress and pre-construction meetings of assigned projects.
- Assist in developing scope of work for routine projects.
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, specifications and other project related documents.
- Conduct, coordinate or supervise field investigation/testing, laboratory testing and evaluation of respective data.
- Review prepared final field test or inspection reports and lab test reports before sending to project team.
- Interacts with client and project team in developing scope of services and communicating project progress.
- May supervise EITs, engineering technicians, laboratory staff and other support personnel.

Key Criteria/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field. Masters is preferred.
- PE License in the State of Texas is required.
- 3-5 years' experience required.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication, listening and writing skills are required.
- Critical Thinking Skills: To solve problems, you will need the ability to weigh the merits of possible solutions.
- Self-Discipline: You will frequently have to work independently which will require you to be very focused and motivated.
- Valid Texas Driver's License with no history of accidents or alcohol/drug related traffic offenses.
- Valid right to work documents.
- Complete defensive driving course and obtain certificate before driving company vehicles and repeat as necessary.
