SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS JOB TITLE:Comm/Computer Tech IREQUISITION ID:NUC00A9DEPARTMENT:MaintenanceLOCATION: Wolf Creek - Walter ChryslerPay: 38.77/hrPOSITION SUMMARY:The Communications/Computer Technician will install andmaintain corporate computer/communicationand Network equipment, E-Plan computer & communication equipment.Perform preventative and corrective Site Security system maintenance activities.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:•Maintain and repair corporate computer/communications equipment to ensure continued operation•Perform installation, removal and maintenance of single function printer equipment.•Coordinate configuration changeswith users and Information Services to ensure access to the CBXs and Local Area Network (LAN).•Test and maintain site area tornado siren. Install and maintain communication links between LAN and peripherals•Test and maintainE-Plan communication equipment.•Assemble, install and relocate computer/communications equipmentwhen requested by end users.•Respond to service requests for information technology (IT) support from end users and other corporate IT groups.•Maintain accurate computer/communications records and inventory•Install and maintain fiber optic network backbone between site buildings and connections with offsite communications service providers•Perform preventative and corrective site security maintenance activities.This is a shared responsibility with I&C.•The Lead Communications/Computer Technician is responsible to coordinate service requests and work assignments through the corporate work ticketing system to ensure that work is prioritized and performed efficiently.•Perform other duties as assigned by supervision/management.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:•The Communications/Computer Technician I requires a vocational/technical certificate or Associates degree in electronics, telecommunications or data communications or a high school diploma or GED equivalent and six months relevant experience.•The Communications/Computer Technician II requires two years of experience as a Communications/Computer Technician I or a vocational/technical certificate or Associates degree in electronics, telecommunications or data communications and four years of relevant experience or a high school diploma or GED equivalent and eight years relevant experience.•The Communications/Computer Technician III requires two years of experience as a Communications/Computer Technician II or a vocational/technical certificate or Associates degree in electronics, telecommunications or data communications and six years of relevant experience or a high school diploma or GED equivalent and ten years relevant experience.This is a slotted position.•Relevant experience should be defined as direct professional experience installing/maintaining corporate communication systems or security intrusion systems or security monitoring systems or electronic control systems or accredited education in those fields.COGNITIVE SKILLS (LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICS, REASONING):•This position requires the ability to:read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effectively present information and responses to questions from managers or members of other departments.The IV Communications/Computer Technician must also have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents; respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community; write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format; effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.•This position requires the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.•This position requires the ability to:define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.VISION:This position requires the ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less; see clearly at 20 feet or more; identify and distinguish colors; observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point; judge distances and spatial relationships; adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.NOISE:This position requires the ability to work in environments with moderate to loud noise.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:This position requires the ability to use power tools and electrical test/monitoring equipment.This position requires good manual dexterity.This position requires the ability to pass aerial lift and bucket truck training.This position requires the successful completion of the MASS test.This position requires the successful completion of the ABC Fundamentals pre-test.Evergy has a clear mission - To empower a better future.
