Description:
Derecktor Shipyards is seeking an experienced and driven Commercial and Government Service Salesperson to join our team. This role is responsible for generating new commercial business and maintaining relationships with existing clients for our yacht service and refit operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the maritime industry, excellent sales skills, and the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
These shall include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:
- Identify and pursue new commercial business opportunities within the commercial and government markets. Develop strategies to attract new clients and retain existing ones.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with commercial fleet operators, and industry professionals.
- Provide exceptional customer service and address client needs and concerns promptly.
- Manage the entire sales process from initial contact through handoff. This includes preparing and presenting proposals, negotiating contracts, and closing sales.
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities. Use this information to identify opportunities for growth and development.
- Work closely with the operations, project management, and marketing teams to ensure seamless project execution and customer satisfaction.
- Work with Facilities Managers to ensure compliance with government/commercial requirements that relate to facilities and security
- Prepare regular sales reports and forecasts for management review. Track sales performance against targets and adjust strategies as needed.
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to promote Derecktor Shipyards and build a network of industry contacts.
- Lead point of contact on commercial sales and pipeline development
- Produce detailed sales plan (yearly).
- Work with Marketing Manager to produce marketing plan which supports the sales plan.
- Responsible for ship checks
- Work with PM and Operations in development of project plans.
- Provide estimating coordinator with developed scope. EC to administer estimate production in line with standard process/procedures
- Work with department leads (PM, Ops, Facilities, HR) to ensure commercial and government work is contractually compliant, meets capabilities and fits schedule
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong sales and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of ship maintenance, repair, and refit processes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of sales experience in the maritime industry, with a focus on ship service and refit.
- Sales or marketing certifications are a plus.
- Familiarity with the technical aspects of ship refit and repair.
- Previous experience in a similar role within a shipyard or marine service company.
