ResponsibilitiesKforce has a client in Manhattan, NY that is seeking a highly experienced Senior Commercial and Industrial Underwriter to join their team. With over 10 years of expertise in underwriting, the Commercial and Industrial Underwriter will play a pivotal role in assessing and managing risk for our commercial and industrial clients. This position offers an opportunity to lead and collaborate with a dynamic team, utilizing your skills to drive informed decisions that ensure client satisfaction and business success. Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and underwriting for commercial and industrial insurance applications
  • Write detailed credit memos outlining risk analysis, financial assessments, and underwriting decisions
  • Serve as a Credit Officer, responsible for approving and recommending insurance policies based on risk evaluation and company guidelines
  • Act as a Credit Auditor, ensuring compliance with underwriting standards and performing audits to validate accuracy and completeness of underwriting processes
  • Collaborate closely with brokers, agents, and internal teams to negotiate terms and conditions
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior underwriters and support staff
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions impacting commercial and industrial insurance
  • Cultivate strong relationships with clients, brokers, and stakeholders to foster trust and support business growth
  • Participate actively in underwriting meetings, strategy sessions, and training programs as required
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in commercial and industrial underwriting
  • Proven track record in writing credit memos and conducting detailed financial analysis
  • Experience in a Credit Officer role, with the ability to make informed decisions on insurance policy approvals
  • Strong proficiency as a Credit Auditor, ensuring underwriting compliance and conducting audits
  • Thorough understanding of commercial insurance products, underwriting principles, and risk management practices
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.Note: Pay is not considered compensation until it is earned, vested and determinable.
