As a Commercial Carpenter, you will be responsible for performing a variety of carpentry tasks on commercial construction sites, ensuring quality craftsmanship and adherence to project specifications. - Carpentry Work:
- Perform various carpentry tasks, including framing, drywall installation and finishing, trim work, acoustic ceilings, carpets, and finish carpentry for commercial construction projects.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the materials required and the dimensions of the structures or fixtures to be fabricated.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood, plastic, metal, and other building materials using hand and power tools.
- Install doors, windows, cabinets, moldings, and other fixtures according to project specifications.
- Site Preparation and Maintenance:
- Prepare construction sites for carpentry work, including setting up scaffolding and other temporary structures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and materials are stored properly and safely.
- Inspect and maintain tools and equipment, reporting any issues or needed repairs to the supervisor.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and other trades to coordinate work and ensure project timelines are met.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, providing updates on work progress and any issues that arise.
- Adhere to safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment for all team members on the job site.
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a carpenter in commercial construction.
- Experience with acoustical tile, laying grid, and installing is preferred
- Experience with metal stud framing is preferred
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, bending, and climbing.
- Capable of working in various weather conditions and on different types of terrain.
- Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces as required by the job.
- Other Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in carpentry is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
