POSITION PURPOSE
An HBW Services Carpenter is integral to the company's Services Division. The Carpenter is responsible for building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, furniture, and other items using different types of materials including wood and steel.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
* Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches and building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and raw materials required.
* Shapes or cuts materials to specified measurements, using hand tools or power saw.
* Assembles and fastens materials to make framework or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins or glue.
* Repairs and maintains cabinets, doors, frameworks, and floors using woodworking machines and hand/power tools.
* Ensures proper alignment of structures using rulers, spirit levels and theodolite.
* Ensures work is up to code and specifications.
* Provides outstanding customer service while completing carpentry work.
* Serves as an HBW advocate and ambassador in every interaction with coworkers, customers and the public.
* Complies with all HBW regulations and rules and adheres to all safety standards.
* Performs any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall Building Services Division.
QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Four (4) years of experience in finish carpentry.
* High school diploma or GED required.
* Excellent math, mechanical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize assignments.
* Skilled in the measurement, cutting, and shaping of wooden materials using tapes, saws, chisel, and various other tools.
* Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently and work under pressure to meet required deadlines.
* Independent self-starter and good listener who can discern required steps to achieve goals without specific task direction.
* Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor.
* Thrives in a friendly, fast-paced, team-oriented environment where accountability, work ethic and a can do attitude is a necessity.
* Possess a valid CDL driver's license.
Physical Qualifications
* Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
* Must be able to sit, handle or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms.
* May be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
* Ability to effectively verbally communicate and receive direction.
* Must be able to visit project sites.
