Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent with a strong background in managing K-12 educational facilities and municipal construction projects. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader, responsible for overseeing all on-site activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Oversight:
- Manage day-to-day operations of construction sites, ensuring alignment with project schedules and objectives.
- Supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to ensure all work adheres to plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and owners to resolve issues and maintain progress.
- Schedule Management:
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring critical milestones are met.
- Proactively identify potential delays and implement corrective measures to keep projects on track.
- Safety Compliance:
- Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies, fostering a culture of safety on the job site.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and documentation to ensure compliance.
- Quality Control:
- Monitor all construction activities to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to project specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections and address deficiencies promptly to maintain project integrity.
- Stakeholder Communication:
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and project team members.
- Provide regular updates and progress reports to project managers and owners.
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to strategic planning discussions.
- Resource Management:
- Coordinate the delivery of materials, equipment, and labor to meet project needs.
- Manage site logistics, including staging areas, equipment usage, and site access.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction, with a focus on K-12 and/or municipal projects.
- Proven track record of delivering complex, multi-phase projects within occupied facilities is highly desirable.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of construction processes, including site work, structural, MEP systems, and finishes.
- Familiarity with building codes, ADA compliance, and local regulations specific to educational and municipal projects.
- Skills:
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficient in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam) and scheduling tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera).
- Certifications:
- OSHA 30 Certification required.
- First Aid/CPR Certification preferred.
- Additional safety and project management certifications are a plus.
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
