POSITION SUMMARY:

The Commercial Home Health Biller is an experienced home health commercial biller, minimum 5 years experience in the health care field, who performs specific duties for the Billing Department. These duties include, but are not limited to, billing and follow-up of patient accounts according to established corporate billing policies.

POSITION DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Processes all assigned patient accounts to meet all third party and/or company policies.

  • Researches any issues relating to corporate billing, cash, and charge application. Reports any findings relating to patient accounts to Patient Account Lead Biller and/or Revenue Cycle Manager.

  • Works cooperatively as a productive member of the Centralized Billing team

o Reviewing and verifying all demographic and insurance information utilizing available technologies, payor websites, or by phone

o Works to achieve timely and accurate bills/claims processing and denial resolution through good communication, problem solving, multitasking and organizational skills.

o Preparing and submitting accurate insurance claims and appeals to payor within required timeframes and in accordance with government/payor regulations.

o Participates in billing meetings and is prepared to present current billing issues and updates for specific patient accounts or assigned insurances.

o Courteously receives and answers billing related inquiries through verbal or written correspondence with insurance carriers, team members and patients/guarantors.

o Keeps the Revenue Cycle Manager informed of issues that need to be addressed within the billing cycle, especially trends or barriers related to cash collection.

o Understands and keeps abreast of payor regulations related to verification, authorization, and billing guidelines. Report changing guidelines in a timely manner to Revenue Cycle Manager.

  • Cross trained for insurance verification and may cover duties as assigned, as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Excellent organizational skills

Applies critical and strategic thinking skills

Knowledge of the insurance qualifying guidelines for home health services

Thorough knowledge and understanding of benefits and/or coverage of insurances as indicated by third party payor requirements.

Computer proficiency (understanding of HCHB, MS Office, and the ability to learn how to navigate various website portals for insurance companies)

Ability to read, write and speak the English language

Five years of Healthcare Billing experience

Ability to multitask and handle stressful situations

Ability to learn new skills and adapt to change

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
