Position Summary: The Risk Specialist is responsible for quoting and binding new commercial business accounts (Producer-acquired, on-line quote requests, phone and walk-in inquiries). They may also be responsible for assisting other Risk Specialists with account remarketing efforts, provide back-up, out-of-office coverage for team members, and other related duties and responsibilities. They possess extensive knowledge of the markets available through Agency carriers.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides technical support to Producer specifically in analyzing client needs, coverage forms and quotations.
- Completes applications in coordination with Producer; submits applications to eligible and appropriate carriers; follows-up to ensure timely receipt of quotations and policies.
- Orders and issues binders, certificates, policies, endorsements and other related items; verifies their accuracy; forwards them to client with appropriate correspondence.
- Determines type of billing (direct to client or Agency bill) appropriate and invoices accordingly.
- Prepares summaries of insurance, schedules and proposals as needed.
- Processes renewals in coordination with Producer according to Agency procedures.
- Reviews & audits policies; verifies accuracy and facilitates corrections, as needed, between client and carrier.
- Verifies policy and policy change information, facilitating corrections when necessary.
- Processes incoming client mail and phone requests, responding promptly and appropriately.
- Identifies potential loss exposures and recommends appropriate coverages in coordination with Producer.
- Sets priorities and manages work flow to ensure efficient, timely and accurate processing of transactions and other responsibilities.
- Expectation of 24-hour turn around time in responding to clients, company partners and any matters related to clients coverage.
- Keeps informed regarding industry information, new product information, legislation, coverages and technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance.
- Interacts with others by utilizing effective communication skills, cooperating purposefully and providing information and guidance, as needed, to achieve the business goals of the Agency.
- Occasionally accompanies Producer on prospect and client meetings as requested by
- Producer.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Key Characteristics:
- Possess commercial insurance technical knowledge including a thorough understanding of all forms of commercial coverages and risk alternatives.
- Knowledge of insurance rating and underwriting procedures.
- Highly detail-oriented and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment while maintaining poise and composure in high pressure situations.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities demonstrating excellent time management skills.
- Ability to carry out complex tasks with many concrete and abstract variables.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing with others to explain complex issues, receive and interpret complex information, and respond appropriately.
- Strong computer proficiency of Microsoft Office suite as well as Agencys management system.
- Team player, self-starter, and one who is also able to gain the trust and support of members of the team. Demonstrates ability to lead and knows when to take the lead to work towards reaching a goal.
- Ability to work with highly sensitive information and maintain confidences at all times.
Education and Experience:
- Associates degree and a minimum of two years insurance experience or any combination of education and experience needed to satisfy the requirements of the position.
- Minimum of three years commercial lines experience.
- Must hold a property and casualty Producers license for the lines of insurance being written.
- Client Management Experience on Vertafore Products highly preferred
Other Requirements:
- Must possess a valid drivers license, have reliable transportation and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to complete trainings as required by the Agency.
