Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Commercial Real Estate and Foreclosure Paralegal to support our legal team in handling a variety of complex real estate transactions and loan enforcement matters. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, an understanding of construction and permanent lending, mortgage foreclosure procedures, title issues, and will have the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll do:
* Review and organize physical and electronic loan files in preparation for referral to outside counsel for legal action, including summarizing and indexing documents
* Review draft documents for accuracy and completeness
* Organize, maintain and update tracker of loan/legal action status
* Locate recorded documents on ACRIS or other public sites
* Organize and maintain electronic loan files, enter information in databases as needed and ensure proper record keeping in connection with loan and legal matters
* Review and analyze foreclosure-related documents, including mortgage agreements, guaranties and title reports
* Track and pay invoices for the department, as required
* Prepare litigation and loan closing packages, as directed
* Coordinate, draft and document Maturity Extension Agreements (MEA), as necessary
* Assist with and/or directly close loan transactions, as requested
* Coordinate and/or conduct closings of participation sales assigned to the Legal Department as requested
* Coordinate required paperwork to facilitate the creation of new legal entities, as necessary
* Provide quality customer service both internally and externally
* Consistently and effectively communicate the Legal Department Executives' messages and comments to internal and external representatives
Skills and Experience
* Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years' experience as a paralegal
* Experience with commercial loan closings and/or servicing
* Familiarity with New York mortgage foreclosure procedures
* Familiarity with New York real estate title insurance procedures and policies
* Familiarity with real estate closing procedures and commercial real estate finance
* Expertise in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
* Superior written and verbal communication skills
* A mathematical aptitude sufficient to understand as well as to prepare reports related to commercial lending
* Notary license or willingness to obtain same

This is a full-time, hybrid role where you will work from the Manhattan office two - three days a week. The salary range is $75,000 - $95,000, dependent on experience.
