DescriptionThe Commercial Services Technical Assistant reports to the Director of OSP Planning and Technical Operations, preparing permit applications for submission to a variety of permitting and licensing entities in the preparation for construction of fiber optic plant.RequirementsPrincipal Accountabilities - The candidate shall be responsible for the following tasks under the supervision of outside plant managers and field technicians.
- Prepare and submit utility pole applications to appropriate utility companies using utility software packages where applicable.
- Prepare and submit railroad crossing applications
- Prepare and submit permit applications for waterway crossings, state and national lands, including completion of necessary environmental impact surveys and benefits statements
- Prepare and submit applications for Department of Transportation permits required for underground construction and setting utility poles.
- Develop rapport and communication channels with licensing agencies, utilities, departments of transportation
- Assist with risk assessment and identification of issues for communication to the OSP and project management teams for resolution.
- Process invoices for all fees that pertain to permits and pole applications
- Maintain accurate and updated information in ZiP - to include application data, outside plant updates, estimated & actual completion dates, invoice paid dates, etc.
- Assist with Right-of-Way, property ownership & deed searches.
- Assist with monitoring utility compliance with FCC timeframes for application processing
- Assist with monitoring sales leads to insure outside plant cost estimates are provided
- Once builds are completed, report poles added to Verizon where applicable
- Assist with PA One Call tickets for underground locates when needed
- Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned or as become evident.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid PA driver's license
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office - especially Excel & Word
- Familiarity with Google Earth, including knowledge of geographical coordinate systems and alternate latitude/longitude representation
- Ability to handle incoming packages up to 75 lbs with the assistance of carts, dollies, or hand trucks
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with CAD mapping tools including Bentley MicroStation
