Job Description:

This is a full-time, permanent position based in New York City (hybrid).

Role

You will be at the forefront of our client's mission to strengthen their presence in renewable energy.

  • Insurance Alignment: Ensure insurance coverage from development through operations.
  • Financial Expertise: Utilize your extensive knowledge in renewables or large infrastructure projects to manage valuation, investments, and corporate finance.
  • Funding Opportunities: Identify and secure local, state, and federal grants, loans, and credit opportunities.
  • Performance Securities: Manage performance securities and liaise with JV parent companies for guarantees.

Activities:

  • Work with the Tax team, selected external advisors and relevant suppliers to prepare assessments and implement requirements to qualify for local and state tax credits and other initiatives and incentives to support improvement to the project economics and best value for the ratepayers.
  • Along with the Tax team and selected external advisors, support project set-up to ensure qualification for and maximization of Federal tax credits. Ensure that the project team and the projects' suppliers are aligned on the execution plan and data delivery for the project to achieve requirements.
  • Along with the Structured Finance team and selected external advisors, support external project financing preparation, external engagement with markets, prepare and coordinate inputs for external assessment of project, coordinate required due diligence and support final selection of funding and tax equity partners.
  • Support the development and implementation of commercial and financial strategy of the company's offshore wind projects.
  • Along with the insurance team and selected external advisors support project insurance request preparation, external engagement with markets, prepare and coordinate inputs for external assessment of insurance requirements, and coordinate required due diligence and support final selection of insurance providers.
  • Working with project technical, legal, the insurance team and selected external advisors ensure alignment of insurance requirements between project and suppliers during scope and terms negotiations and contract placement.
  • Identify and track risks and opportunities related to commercial topics and project economics
  • Work with Finance team to place and manage performance securities on behalf of Attentive Energy, ensuring no overlap or inconsistencies with existing parent companies guarantees.
  • Analyze energy market trends, policies, and regulatory frameworks that impact the offshore wind industry in the US, primarily in New York and New Jersey, and use those assessments to support and facilitate decisions and develop market strategy for value improvement of projects.
  • Perform and validate cost benefit analyses for the projects in collaboration with commercial, economic development, and technical teams to evaluate contracting options, in particular related to economic benefit and local content opportunities.
  • Along with Structured Finance team, review and understand financial models and valuation analysis of the company's offshore wind projects to support key decisions and project milestones and collaborate across the project team to source inputs for the financial model.
  • Support preparation of strategic decision material and financial updates to corporate and to project shareholders.
  • Report to NYC office 3 days per week with willingness to travel on a periodic basis, including across project and company offices and to meet with the project's commercial and regulatory stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Education: Master's degree in business, finance, or economics.
  • Experience: 3-5 years in renewables project finance or direct investment in infrastructure/renewables.
  • Skills: Strong quantitative reasoning, valuation, and project finance skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the US energy sector, especially in New York and New Jersey, including policies, regulations, and market dynamics related to offshore wind.
