STOCK CLERKS WAREHOUSE Job Description

Position summary:A warehouse/FDS employee performs the contract requirements of the receiving/storage/holding area function by off loading trucks, sorting and segregating the merchandise and sorting and pulling of merchandise to the from the warehouse racks. (1). the truck off-loading consists of removing all merchandise from the truck in a timely manner to preclude demurrage charges. The pallets of merchandise shall be staged in the receiving area with sufficient room between the pallets so that they can be broken down for in-checking.
The following tasks will be performed for truck off loading: All employees will be trained and licensed to operate MHE. Perform daily preventative maintenance inspections on all MHE. Notify medical food inspector of frozen & chilled shipments before opening the truck. Inspect for damage prior to off-loading trucks. Report all damage found to in/checking personnel or QAEs. Insure stability of pallets before off loading, re-stack when necessary. Ensure trucks tires are properly are properly chalked and blocked Off/load trucks in a safe manner to preclude damage. Off/loading trucks in a timely manner to preclude demurrage charges Off/load merchandise into the receiving area so that it can be in-checked. Breakdown pallets when necessary to assist government in in-checking. Operate MHE equipment in a safe manner, using horn as warning. Keep warehouse area policed to maintain a safe environment. In case off spillage or breakage, mark off area and clean appropriately. At the end off shift, inspect on MHE reporting any problems and plug equipment into proper charger. Store perishable items within 15 minutes of in/checking. Load cardboard bales onto truck when scheduled.
Stack pallets in designated area no more than 12 high. Once this merchandise has been off/loaded, the warehouse person will assist the Government by breaking down the merchandise onto other pallets in such a manner that all the cases can be accounted for.(2.) The sorting and segregation of FDS merchandise will be accomplished in the receiving/holding area. They will separate the vendor items from Contractor items. The frozen and chilled items will be stored within 15 minutes after being in-checked. All other vendor items will be staged in the vendor area in the warehouse. All Contractor line items will be broken down on pallets by aisle and section. The pallets will be placed in the Contractor staging areas after they have been broken down. These pallets will be pulled to the store and stocked upon completion of sorting and segregating. Contractor sorted and segregated merchandise will be placed in the staging area by aisle order. Any merchandise pulled from the warehouse will be staged with the FDS items. The over/writes and partials will be pulled and placed behind the FDS items in the staging area. All overwrites and partials are pulled nightly from the R/S/H area to the store for stocking. They are placed on top of the FDS that has been staged on the floor in front of the shelf where they will be stocked. This process ensures that all over/write and partials are worked first prior to any new merchandise.
(3.) The warehouse person will warehouse all display items, non-FDS merchandise and store operating supplies daily. The warehouseman will pull all merchandise required for day stocking. If an item of merchandise is available in the over/write area and the warehouse racks, it will be pulled from the over/write area first. The warehouseman will also assist customers with case lot requests. The trucks will be off/loaded in such a manner that they facilitate the sorting, segregating and the breakdown pallets for in/checking accountability. Merchandise that does not require breakdown will be placed together in one area. Large case pack items such as paper products and cereal do not require any breakdown can be staged out of the way where they can be in-checked more easily. This allows the sorters & segregators more room for the merchandise-requiring breakdown. The forklift operator will place this merchandise in the receiving area in rows with enough room between the rows to allow for additional pallets. As merchandise is broken down, it can also be sorted & segregated by commodity group, aisle, or section to facilitate the stocking. The forklift operator will assist the FDS breakdown sorters and segregators by transporting pallets after they have been in-checked sorted and segregated to their respective staging area. The sorters/segregators will segregate merchandise as it is broken down to facilitate the in/checking process. As we breakdown the merchandise so that the Government in- checkers can count it, we will take this opportunity to separate the vendor merchandise by placing it on pallets and combining it. The contractor responsible stock will be sorted and segregated by aisle and section in such a manner that it can also be visibly counted. As each pallet of sorted and segregated merchandise is ready the Government, in- checkers count the pallet. If we breakdown the merchandise first then go back and sort and segregate the same merchandise, we will be re-handling the same cases twice. We will have sufficient employees performing the work to ensure that the Government in/checkers are never delayed. After the FDS merchandise has been segregated onto pallets, the vendor stock merchandise will be staged in an area designated by the Commissary Officer. All vendor merchandise will be placed in a separate area when possible, in the receiving area. This merchandise will be broken down to facilitate in-checking and transported to the vendor staging area as quickly as possible. This will give them ready access to their stock unhindered by the rest of the service being performed. The perishable stock will be broken down immediately and transported as soon as it has been in-checked to the freezer or chill box. The forklift operators who will have completed their off/loading tasks by this time can perform most of the transporting of merchandise.
All contractor-stocked merchandise will be separated and placed on to pallets by aisle, commodity, and section to facilitate stocking. We will then move this merchandise to the staging area to wait to pull for shelf stocking purposes. We will then place the merchandise pulled from the warehouse and the overwrite area behind the FDS. All pallets will be staged in rows in accordance with the aisle it will be going to. This will be done in such a manner that all aisles one will be in the same row in the staging area and so on. The over/writes and partials will be pulled and placed behind the FDS items in the staging area. All overwrites and partials are pulled nightly from the R/S/H area to the store for stocking.

Position summary:A. Stockers will clean all shelf areas in their sections prior to stocking. Shelf areas that are not accessible due to staged merchandise will be cleaned during the stocking process. All old merchandise will be dusted to preclude dust build up. Stockers are responsible to ensure that their shelves and shelf moldings are free of dust (to include NIS areas), tape, spills, and self-adhesive backing prior to stocking new merchandise. The supervisor will inspect the shelves to ensure that they have been thoroughly cleaned prior to the actual stocking.
B. The merchandise you will stock will be transported from the staging area to the appropriate store aisle location by means of hand pallet jacks. Once merchandise has been transported to the proper store aisle, the cases will be pulled from the pallets and stacked on the floor in front of the proper shelf location.
Tasks:
Cases will only be stocked if the entire case will fit on the shelf. The stockers will item stock all merchandise unless authorization for dump or bulk stocking is given. All items will be stocked in the allocated shelf space in accordance with the number of facings identified by the shelf label. All merchandise that is stocked will be faced and fronted during stocking. Stockers will also stock in accordance with First-In First-Out (FIFO). All merchandise will be rotated by the month and year of the expiration date except for baby formula, which will be rotated by the day. Stockers will take care not to damage commissary merchandise. All merchandise with loose labels will be repaired with tape and stocked. Any merchandise found to be damaged, will not be stocked, but will be segregated by food and non-food categories and then placed into carts for disposition. As cardboard is generated it will be BROKEN DOWN and placed in cardboard bins, that are available in the store for this purpose. Place all merchandise from pallets and place on the floor to the right of its designated shelf placement. Cut open boxes and stock merchandise to the shelf. Load onto pallets all merchandise that cannot fit on the allocated shelf space and return palletized merchandise to the warehouse using manual pallet jacks. Pull pallets of merchandise from the warehouse to store locations to facilitate stocking.
