Job Description:

MK2 Engineers is looking for a qualified Commissioning Agent.

Desired Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in the design, construction, and commissioning (Cx) of HVAC, BMS, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical systems for commercial, and institutional buildings.
  • Five (5) years of field commissioning experience in the commercial and institutional construction industry.
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical building systems, and local codes.
  • Certification as a Commissioning Agent, such as CxA or BCxA desired.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional engineering license, AABC, LEED AP, or TAB certification is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiar with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Familiar with green building design practices and LEED.

Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Prepare commissioning specifications, checklists, and documents.
  • Provide on-site Commissioning of HVAC, Plumbing, BMS, and lighting control systems.
  • Perform thermal Imaging of electrical panels.
  • Review balance reports and manufacturer or contractor's start-up reports.
  • Generate comprehensive punch lists, commissioning reports, and documentation.
  • Provide review and quality control of designs, energy models, and specs.
  • Communicate and coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, owners' representatives, construction managers, and inspectors.
  • Review shop drawings and RFIs log.
  • Travel for pre-design and design meetings, construction phase site observations, etc.
  • Prepare detailed technical narrative reports.
  • Execution of standard building commissioning processes for new and existing construction as found in ASHRAE Guidelines.
  • Performance of ASHRAE Level 1, 2, and 3 Energy Audits.
  • Support for obtaining building sustainability certifications such as LEED, Energy Star, etc.
  • Witness the training of maintenance and operation staff by the contractors.
  • Recommend approval of air and water systems balancing through the statistical sampling of the report and field verification.
