Our systems encompass over 11 product lines to support manufacturing applications and customers in a wide variety of industries, including automotive, building & construction, consumer products, medical, and packaging.Davis-Standard has an immediate opening in the Fulton, New York location for a Mechanical Project Engineer.Duties and Requirements may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Perform Drive system checkouts on Rockwell & Siemens drive systems on the plant assembly floor.
- Ensure project software and schematics have been updated and properly archived
- Commission drive systems on DS equipment at customers facility
- Work with Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to optimize the performance of machines.
- Provide customers technical assistance and training in troubleshooting and servicing of drive systems.
- Function include setting up drives network, tuning drives, calibrating load cells, and instructing machine operators and maintenance personnel and taking corrective actions to insure the equipment performs to spec.
- Troubleshoot designs and hardware during checkout
- Liaison to customer while machine is in installation and startup phase
- Participate in pre-commission meetings with Customers and the commissioning team.
- Provide feedback to manuals on non-standard equipment set up procedures
- The successful candidate should be a hands-on and a self-starting individual that functions well in a fast paced & dynamic environment.
- Computer literate in Microsoft platforms and networking capabilities.
- Conversant in Siemens and Rockwell Drives programming.
- Advanced training in electrical applications.
- Field practice on drive systems.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and to foreign countries. Time spent at customers' plants may approach 60% of work requirements.
- Able to read and understand electrical schematics.
- Able to read and understand mechanical drawings.
- 2-4 years of experience servicing converting equipment a plus.
- Overtime as necessary.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).
- Must be able to plan and schedule your own daily activities.
- Must have, or have the ability to possess a valid passport.
- Ability to interact with a wide variety of people including Field Service Technicians, Engineers, Customers, and department managers.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Knowledge of the equipment, the industry, and processes is preferred
- 4 year degree in Electrical Engineering field is preferred.
