We are currently seeking a Commissioning Engineer/Authority role in our New York, NY locations. The Commissioning Engineer/ Authority will be responsible for performing the full range of Commissioning (Cx) responsibilities on moderate size and complexity building projects, or in a supporting role to senior staff on larger, more complex building projects. Tasks include preparing Cx plans and specifications, web-based project management and documentation (Cx Alloy), Cx design reviews, lead construction meetings, perform site observations, develop pre-functional checklists and functional tests, perform functional testing with contractors/owners, issue management, write Cx and related reports, and post occupancy follow-up activities. Principal Responsibilities:
    • Manage and/or support multiple commissioning projects including client interface, team coordination, schedule and budget management
    • Assist the Cx Authority/Engineer with completion of construction and renovation commissioning projects
    • Perform Cx reviews of construction documents and equipment submittals •
    • Work effectively as a team member
    • Develop commissioning plans, reports, pre-functional checklists, and functional performance test procedures
    • Assist with functional testing of systems
    • Contribute to improving Cx processes and best practices
    • Perform technical analysis of building operation (controls, sequences, etc.)
    • Proactively communicate with a wide range of client stakeholders
    • Perform jobsite field observations, write detailed field reports, and lead Cx meetings
    • Contribute to improving Cx processes and creating best practices
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals
    • Mentor and develop less-experienced employees in a team-based atmosphere
Required Skills/Abilities
    • Strong oral and written skills and a proven ability to interact professionally with a wide a range of clients
    • Solid understanding of HVAC and electrical system designs and operations •
    • Working knowledge of building automation and lighting control systems •
    • Working knowledge of Cx Industry Standards (ASHRAE, ACG, BCxA) and code requirements
    • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (CEC Title 24, ASHRAE, IECC, IMC, NEC, etc.)
    • Demonstrated ability to read and understand construction documents (mechanical, controls, plumbing, and electrical drawings, specifications, etc.)
    • Proficient understanding of electrical and fire/life safety systems •
    • Knowledge of construction industry safety practices and procedures
    • Troubleshooting of field devices and control hardware and software
    • Capable of self-performing functional testing of building MEP systems
    • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • Skilled with PDF editors (Bluebeam, Adobe), plus additional online project management software
    • Ability to travel up to 30% (travel will depend on project needs and may vary widely)
Education and Experience
    • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
    • 3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in Commissioning or in the Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (MEP) consulting industry, or equivalent
    • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred
    OR
    • Recognized Building Commissioning Certification preferred (or ability and desire to obtain one)
    • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in Commissioning or in the Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (MEP) design consulting industry, or equivalent
  • This position is not eligible for sponsorship
Salary Range: $85,000 - $110,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
