Overview:
Merrick & Company is seeking a Commissioning Specialist I to become part of our growing Commissioning team.
Typical salary range for this position is $70,000.00 - $83,000.00. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
What You'll Do:
- Coordinate, perform and oversee detailed field commissioning services, assessments, and studies for all types of facilities/systems including the following: laboratories, nuclear spaces, hospitals, clean rooms.
- Generate commissioning plans; write commissioning specifications; develop commissioning installation checklists and functional test procedures; verify and validate commissioned systems controls and equipment; document commissioning process, develop final commissioning report, and develop systems manuals.
- Frequent travel to project/client locations is required with possible international travel.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelors Degree in Engineering OR a (2) Year Technical Associates Degree from an accredited institution with practical commissioning, controls, or testing experience.
- Optional experience that will also be considered:
- Experience with HVAC controls systems and protocols (e.g. JCI, Siemens, ALC, BACnet, Modbus, etc)
- Experience with construction administration
- LEED/Green Globes/Guiding Principles Compliance
- Ability to travel to project/client locations located in the US and internationally.
- The client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship
Location:
- Either Georgia (greater Atlanta area), Maryland, or the greater DC area is preferred; however, other locations near major airports will be considered.

- Have good organizational and planning skills with the ability to direct a team through the execution of the commissioning process.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience coordinating with owners and contractors, as well as the ability to lead project meetings are necessary skills.
- Have the ability to generate accurate, detailed reports.
- Have the ability to read and understand building drawings, specifications, and submittals.
- Have knowledge of controls systems and control sequences.
- Be proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Power Point). Familiarity with AutoCad and/or Revit will be considered an asset.
- Possess, or be able to obtain, a US security clearance.
- Achieve commissioning certification under ASHRAE, ACG and/or BCA within the first three years of engagement.

Physical Requirements:
- Physically mobile in and around construction sites and facilities
- Able to climb ladders
- Mobile crawling in and around mechanical space with piping and ductwork
- Ability to carry test instruments and equipment
- Lift 50 pounds
- The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
- The job requires the ability to perform work in a laboratory environment.
