The position Communication Assistant is a non-exempt position with a salary range of $22-24 per hour. The schedule is flexible of 20 hours per week with in the operating schedule of Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM. The office is located in Garden City, NY. The role reports to the Chief External Affairs Officer. Primary Purpose of Job: The Communications Assistant creates content and materials for external communication, including social media, newsletters, and press releases. Measurable Objectives:
- Create accurate and compelling content to tell the EAC Network story.
- Create well-written external & internal communications as needed.
- Provide consistency around agency messaging and brand voice.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Write and create social media posts, utilizing Canva and other standard industry publishing platforms. Maintain social media platforms, including timely interactions and online engagement with partners, employees, and clients. Write content for monthly newsletters, press releases, and other external purposes, publicizing agency programs and announcements. Create infographics that showcase and highlight the agency's programs and impact. Work with Chief External Affairs Officer and Program Directors in writing content for agency website, presentations, speeches, and development events. Manage intern(s). Prepare communication materials that include, but are not limited to, general correspondence, solicitation materials, flyers, acknowledgements, and other individualized donor/stewardship communications. Take photos and catalog pictures that recap small-scale day-to-day events. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
A minimum of 1-2 years' experience in creating social media content and communication for a non-profit or business. Exceptional writing and communication skills, with thorough attention to detail. Writing samples will be requested. Ability to effectively tell the EAC Network story to community partners, prospective donors, and elected officials. Proficiency in Constant Contact, HubSpot, Canva, Microsoft Publisher, and PowerPoint. Strong knowledge base in Adobe InDesign, Affinity, and QuarkX. Experience in creating marketing materials for external publication. Ability to turn around images and marketing material on short notice when needed. Must possess a valid New York State driver's license and access to an automobile for local travel.
