Serves as Communications and Events Specialist for the Institute for Population Research (IPR). Under the supervision of the Institute for Population Research (IPR) Director, the Communications and Events Specialist manages communications efforts, serves as event coordinator for the center, and supports the day to day functions of IPR. Serves as liaison between ASC Tech, OCIO, FOD. Develops, implements, and maintains a general communications strategy that supports IPR core activities and builds participation and audience. Oversees IPR communication via email and manages IPR social media presence. Aligns IPR communications with College and University brand standards and serves as the Center's liaison to ASC Marketing and Communications. Coordinates events including (but not limited to) weekly seminars and workshops, and develops itineraries for visiting speakers. Oversees day to day operation of IPR, administration of IPR suite of offices including office assignments, use of space for events, and routine maintenance. Supports the operation of the Federal Statistics Research Data Center in Townshend Hall, including coordinating communication between OSU, the US Census Bureau, and the University of Kentucky, and managing space. Initiates travel, HR, and purchasing requests against OSU accounts and external grants. Supervises graduate and undergraduate student workers. Serves as coordinator for the Graduate Interdisciplinary Specialty in Demography (GISD) liaison between graduate school, home departments, and graduate students.
Education & Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 4 years of relevant experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
Desired: Master's degree; knowledge of University policies, rules, and regulations; experience hosting events. Knowledge and/or interest in social and behavioral science research/population health research desired. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), Airtable, Adobe or Canva, and email management such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact.

The target hiring range for this job profile is $69,400 - $91,250. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
