The Communications Associate will support the Senior Communications Officer in responding to DevTechs corporate and project-level marketing and communications needs. Much of the Associates workload will be copyediting. They will also be responsible for content development for a wide range of communications products, including social media content, newsletters, case studies, and blog posts. The remainder of the Associates workload will be dedicated to miscellaneous tasks as required to support the Senior Communications Officer.

  • Copyedit proposals, reports and other documents as required.
  • Format proposal, reports and other documents in line with DevTech, USAID, or other client branding requirements and ensuring
  • Support the production (writing, formatting, and creating visuals) for marketing and communications materials including but not limited to internal and external outreach campaigns, blog posts, podcast scripts, talking points, web content, brochures, one-pagers, presentations, flyers, banners, regular newsletters, factsheets, stories, and infographics.
  • Support with content development and the management of DevTechs social media pages ensuring a consistent social media strategy to maintain ongoing visibility.
  • Support development and implementation of DevTechs marketing and communications strategy and individual project sub-campaigns.
  • Support organizational change management efforts.
  • Additional tasks as needed.

  • Minimum of a BA/BS in Social Sciences, Communications, Public Relations, International Relations, or a similar field from an accredited college or university required; MA preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with copyediting or demonstrated superior language skills, i.e., spelling, grammar, punctuation.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn 508 compliance.
  • Able to comfortably navigate in Microsoft Office and Windows (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to make proofreading corrections and copyediting suggestions as needed.
  • Eye for design. Experience with design software, including Adobe InDesign, Publisher, and/or Canva preferable.
  • Knowledge of and interest in international development and related fields.
  • Excellent writing and communications skills (written and verbal) and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while still meeting deadlines.

  • Contacted candidates will be asked to take a one-hour long copyediting test.
