Position Type: AdministrativeDate Posted: 9/4/2024Location: District WideClosing Date: OPEN UNTIL FILLEDPosition Title: Communications Coordinator Department: Communications Reports To: Executive Director of Employee Relations Supervises: Communication Specialist FLSA Status: Exempt Position Summary: The Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies to enhance the Isaac Elementary School District's brand and effectively convey its core values of Equity, Collaboration, Excellence, and Accountability. This role oversees all district communication efforts, ensures consistent and intentional messaging, and upholds branding standards across all platforms. The Communications Coordinator will also manage the Communication Specialist, guiding their work to align with the district's communication goals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Strategic Communication Planning & Project Management: - Develop and implement strategic communication plans that align with the district's mission, vision, and core values. - Collaborate with district leadership to create communication strategies that support district initiatives, policies, and programs. - Ensure that all communications are culturally responsive and equitable, reaching diverse stakeholders effectively. - Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures. - Ability to prioritize, plan, organize, and work effectively, using independent judgment to complete assignments and meet timelines. 2. Brand Management & Content Creation: - Oversee the development and maintenance of the district's brand identity, ensuring consistency across all communication channels. - Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of branding efforts, making adjustments as necessary to enhance the district's public perception. - Supervise creating high-quality content for various platforms, including websites, social media, newsletters, press releases, and internal communications. - Ensure all content is accurate, timely, and aligned with district messaging and branding standards. - Work closely with the Communication Specialist to create engaging and informative materials that communicate district priorities and achievements effectively. 4. Media Relations: - Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries, providing accurate and timely information to journalists and reporters. - Develop and maintain positive relationships with local media outlets to enhance the district's visibility and reputation. - Prepare and distribute press releases, media kits, and other materials to ensure coverage of consistent district events and initiatives.5. Crisis Communication: - Develop and implement crisis communication plans to manage and respond to emergencies or sensitive issues effectively. - Coordinate with district leadership to ensure timely and accurate communication with stakeholders during a crisis. - Monitor media coverage and public response, providing ongoing updates and adjustments to the communication strategy as needed. 6. Internal Communications: - Oversee internal communication efforts, ensuring staff are well-informed about district policies, initiatives, and events. - Foster a culture of open communication and collaboration within the district. 7. Event Promotion and Management: - Coordinate communication efforts for district events, ensuring that promotional materials are consistent with branding standards. - Work with district staff to ensure that events are effectively communicated to all stakeholders, including parents, students, and community members. - Manage event-related media coverage, highlighting the district's achievements. - Oversee the planning and effective execution of all district events 8. Supervision and Leadership: - Provide leadership and direction to the Communication Specialist(s), ensuring their work aligns with district communication goals. - Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and support to the Communication Specialist(s). - Foster a collaborative, supportive work environment encouraging professional growth and development. 9. Direct Support to Principals and Directors:
  • Serve as a direct communication link between the district office and school principals and directors, providing support tailored to their needs.
  • Assist principals and directors in developing and executing communication strategies that effectively reach their school communities.
  • Provide support for preparing and hosting board meetings at school sites, ensuring all communication materials are aligned with district standards.
  • Coordinate and deliver monthly updates to administrators through detailed emails and in-person meetings to inform them of district-wide initiatives, policies, and events.
  • Offer guidance and resources to principals and directors to enhance their communication efforts, ensuring consistency and alignment with the district's overall messaging and branding.
10. Budget Management: - Develop and manage the communications budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to support district communication efforts. - Monitor expenditures and provide regular reports to the Executive Director of Employee Relations.11. Data and Analytics: - Monitor and analyze communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies and initiatives. - Use data-driven insights to inform and adjust communication plans as needed. 12. Stakeholder Engagement: - Engage with key stakeholders, including parents, community members, and district staff, to gather feedback and inform communication strategies. - Ensure that stakeholder voices are reflected in district communication efforts.Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. - A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in communications, preferably in an educational or public sector setting. - Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. - Demonstrated experience in brand management and strategic communication planning. - Proficiency with digital communication tools, including social media platforms, content management systems, and graphic design software. - Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines. - Experience in media relations and crisis communication. - Strong leadership and supervisory skills. Working Conditions: - This position typically operates in an office environment but may require travel to different district sites for events or meetings. - Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet deadlines or attend district events.Reports to: Executive Director of Employee Relations Salary: Administrator Salary Schedule (Salary Range 1A) Terms of Employment: Twelve (12) month employee, full benefits, position contingent upon grant funds availability
