What is it that we do at Colonial Pipeline Company?
Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. Colonial transports various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, jet fuel, and fuels for the U.S. military through a pipeline system. Colonial transports approximately 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans.
About the Communications Coordinator Position
This is a Part-time position, 3 days in the office weekly.
As the Communications Coordinator, you will be responsible for supporting the Communications, Events, and Public Engagement functions primarily as a content creator for Colonial's internal and external channels. The coordinator will research and create first drafts of stories for internal publications, external-facing social media posts, and relevant updates to web pages. They will also provide administrative and onsite support for employee and public engagement events.
What You Get to Do:
* Generate first drafts of stories for internal communications channels, including company-wide newsletters and other digital products.
* Generate first drafts of posts for Colonial's corporate social media channels.
* Gather appropriate visual and video content from internal and external sources for use with stories and posts.
* Monitor internal and external information sources, including social media, for relevant content to share or amplify on communications channels.
* Update content on internal and external corporate websites as needed.
* Help manage internal processes related to requests for Colonial participation in external events and engagement activities.
What You Bring to the Table:
* Bachelor's Degree in Communications, English, Marketing, or a related field from an accredited college or university; will be considered a combination of experience and/or education.
* Previous work as a writer, content creator, or social media manager.
* Experience writing stories for internal newsletters is preferred.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Familiarity with social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.
* Familiarity with content management and publishing platforms.
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams/SharePoint.
* Excellent organizational skills.
* Ability to synthesize information and distill it into storytelling.
* Ability to work independently, meeting deadlines and delivering quality work.
