Job Description:
Scale is looking for a communications director to drive its positioning, voice, and overall presence across the AI industry. In this role, you will be responsible for strengthening the awareness and reputation of Scale's brand and products, leading media relations, financial communications, crisis communications, product communications, analyst relations, event activations and partnering with our marketing team on owned/social content. The ideal candidate is a leader that can take initiative, blend business and technical nuance with clear and compelling simplicity, and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment. This position will report directly to the Head of CommunicationsYou Will:Lead on corporate-specific media relations, financial communications, product communications, crisis communications, analyst relations, event activations, as well as partner with our marketing team on owned/social content.Work with teams across legal, policy, product and marketing on any critical incidentsDemonstrated success in defining and evolving communications strategies for fast-moving companies in the high-tech and/or AI space Experience across the gamut of communications functions: media relations, financial comms, crisis comms, and narrative development A strong roster of reporter relationships and experience managing agency partners A penchant for digging deep into data and technical nuance to understand issues deeply, and the clarity of thought and writing ability to turn that into compelling narrative Manage an external PR agency to help build the Scale brand and awareness of place within the AI industry. Collaborate with Marketing team on integrated external communications and content strategiesQualifications:Bachelor's degree in a relevant field10+ years of transferrable public relations experienceExperience working in either a fast-paced technology company or technology-focused agency. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including formal correspondence and speechwritingAbility to quickly process new technical terminology, simplify it and explain it to relevant media or stakeholders. Highly organized and strong attention to detailAbility to direct and strategize with both internal cross-functional partners and external PR agenciesExperience managing and mentoring multiple team members to reach desired company and department goalsCompensation packages at Scale for eligible roles include base salary, equity, and benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position, determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, interview performance, and relevant education or training. Scale employees in eligible roles are also granted equity based compensation, subject to Board of Director approval.
