General Position Summary: The Communications Director works with the pastor, parish staff, and volunteers to convey timely news and information to parishioners and the eastern Parker County communities through an array of media platforms. The Communications Director will ensure a unified message and aesthetic style across all media platforms. Principal Accountabilities: Oversee the production of the weekly bulletin Produce and mail the monthly parish newsletter Unify aesthetic design of all parish print- and web-based communications Oversee parish website Manage and update Flocknote users (or other similar communication platform) Manage information on social media platforms Coordinate parish announcements across all platforms Internal Contacts:
- Diocese Pastors, Priests, School Presidents, Principals, Business Managers, and employees.
External Contacts:
- Diocese vendors, local, state, and federal agency representatives, and auditors.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
- This position works in a typical office environment but is subject to stress due to the evolving and quickly expanding needs of the Diocese, tight deadlines and moderate workloads.
- Ability to sit and perform computer work for lengthy periods of time.
- Able to access and maintain centralized departmental files. Involves extending arms and reaching files stored in multiple levels on shelves, climbing up a stepladder to access files.
- Ability to accept work interruptions while remaining focused on duties.
- Data entry via computer keyboard requires repetitive and frequent hand and wrist movements.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance and up to 60 pounds with assistance.
Travel Requirements:
- Infrequent travel, by car, may be required to Diocese Parishes and/or schools.
- Rarely (1-3 times per year)
Education and Experience Preferred:
- High school diploma
- Experience in graphic design and/or website design
- Experience in production of print media
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
- Microsoft Office 365 / Intermediate to advanced capabilities with a heavy emphasis in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Demonstrated professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated analytical, customer service skills and the ability to multi-task.
- Knowledge of the Catholic Church and parish life.
- Skill in writing and editing documents.
- Skill in web design.
- Skill in editing and layout design.
- Skill in using publishing software.
- Facility in public speaking.
- Facility in using social media.
