This role will report to the Senior Communications Specialist.Education:Ideal candidate is an undergraduate/graduate student, or recent graduate, with a major in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, or a similar field.Responsibilities:The Communications internship will introduce you to the inner workings of a corporate communications department that is responsible for internal and external communications, including employee, business, and executive communications, as well as employee engagement events, social media, and media relations. During this ten-week summer program, you will gain exposure to a wide variety of opportunities to learn communications best practices, sharpen your technical writing and editing skills, and participate in ongoing communications-related projects. The Communications intern will assist in daily tasks, which include helping to maintain and update our SharePoint employee intranet site, drafting and/or proofreading various employee communications, social media monitoring, assisting with employee communications requests, and other required communications and project tasks as required. The Talcott Resolution internship program will begin in late May 2025 and finish early to mid-August 2025 and is located in Hartford, Connecticut. No housing or relocations provided. Required Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including proofreading and editing (please be prepared to provide writing samples upon request)
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Strong knowledge of LinkedIn and other social media platforms
- Basic understanding of data analytics, click through rates, visits, etc.
- Strong ability to process instructions and move quickly to executing on tasks
- Effectively asks questions to gain clarity on assigned tasks
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Strong project and people management skills
- Proactive individual who can follow up with people to complete required material reviews
- Professional and positive attitude
- Team oriented with ability to work well independently
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SharePoint Online
- Basic photo editing skills
- Canva
