Position Summary:

The Communications Manager, under the direction of the Development Director, supports the initiatives and activities of InterFaith Works and its Development Office. The Communications Manager is responsible for managing communications, events, and media relations for the overall agency and its individual departments. The Communications Manager participates in all activities related to achieving fundraising goals, maintaining positive donor relations, and enhancing the agency's visibility and positive image among its varied stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Candidate will have excellent writing and editing skills, including familiarity with AP style; graphic design skills; and experience with website maintenance and social media platforms. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g., PowerPoint, Publisher), InDesign, WordPress, Canva, and Adobe Premier Pro. Excellent event planning experience required. Must be able to attend to multiple priorities with energy and enthusiasm, meet deadlines with accuracy, be proactive, maintain confidentiality, and project a positive attitude. High level of attention to detail necessary. Minimum requirement of bachelor's degree with two to three years professional experience in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or related field.

Essential Functions:

Communications:

* Develop and implement an annual communications strategy to support the agency's strategic plan, create awareness of the agency's mission, programs and services, and assist in building key relationships and securing financial and volunteer support for the agency.

* Ensure the maintenance and functionality of the agency website, working with outside contractors, as needed.

* Create and curate social media presence, including developing content on agency's website and social media accounts (including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube) within established deadlines, and adopt emerging social media platforms as appropriate that will broaden the agency's social media reach.

* Write, edit, design, and oversee production of communications material, including newsletter, brochures, fact sheets, fundraising collateral, posters, signage, business cards and letterhead to effectively brand the agency.

* Maintain the brand and signage for the agency's headquarters, staff, and overall communications. Take photos and videos and/or direct work of contractors, as needed. Organize and maintain an agency-wide system for storing and accessing photos and videos.

Media Relations:

* Serve as initial media contact and schedule media interviews for agency President and other approved agency spokespeople, in consultation with the President and Development Director.

* Support media relations activities, including writing and distributing news releases, media advisories and press kits.

* Maintain current media contact lists.

* Pitch media stories to build agency awareness and goodwill among the community and agency stakeholders.

Events Management/Fundraising Support:

* Lead the planning, execution and promotion of special events as directed.

* Provide communications support to agency events.

* Promote major gifts received, as well as staff, Board of Directors and Round Table of Faith Leaders member accomplishments, through external and internal communications vehicles.

Other duties as assigned by the Development Director.
