POSITION DETAILS

The Communications Publications Editorial Manager will collaborate closely with colleagues in Baruch College's Office of Communications, Marketing, and Public Affairs, as well as with faculty and staff across the College. The position will have an important role in guiding and maintaining materials created for the College's programs and activities, maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders and partners, and supporting the College's overall strategic plan goals. This role reports to theDirector of Communications.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

+ Proofread, copyedit, write/rewrite, and edit for a wide range of publications.

+ Working with the Director of Communications and other team members within OCMPA produce communications to meet a variety of College needs.

+ Provide writing and editorial direction/support for communications such as broadcast communications, brochures, annual reports, event invitations, posters, and other internal communications materials.

+ Support the creation and distribution of high-priority, sensitive, and crisis communications under tight timelines.

+ Create and distribute the College's weekly internal e-newsletter and produce outcomes reports using digital analytic tools; support other departmental newsletters with editorial review.

+ Support Campus Digital Screens production process with copy creation/review and visuals review

+ Collaborate across the College with partners to establish communications objectives and schedules; provide expert guidance regarding all facets of the production process, including effective formats and styles.

+ Work with internal creative resources, such as graphic designers, videographers, and other departmental communications staff, to write, edit, and distribute various campaigns and communications.

+ Apply the Baruch College Editorial Style Guide and Baruch Logo and Visual Identity Guidelines to all work; share rationale with partners to maintain cross-college consistency.

+ Help maintain editorial calendar and work with external partners to ensure on-time delivery of communications materials.

+ Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Proven ability to write clear, engaging, and compelling copy in a variety of styles appropriate for the College's target audiences

+ Extreme attention to detail with strong copyediting, line editing, proofreading, and fact-checking skills with demonstrated experience

+ Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of writing, grammar, syntax, style, and punctuation

+ Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with ability to generate, assess, and exchange new ideas

+ Strong project-management and organizational skills; ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment

+ Willingness to take direction; work well as a thought partner and teammate and independently

+ Proficiency with MS Office Suite; knowledge of PoliteMail and WordPress beneficial, but not required

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Oversees implementation of communications programs and produces communications in all media to meet a variety of College needs

* Provides creative direction for publications and marketing materials, such as catalogs, annual reports, brochures, direct mail packages, print advertising and other marketing materials

* Works with College clientele (faculty, administrators, and student representatives) to understand their communications objectives, select appropriate messages, formats, and distribution methods, set production timelines, and establish appropriate editorial and design approaches

* Provides creative direction and supervision to external and/or internal creative resources such as writers, photographers, illustrators and graphic designers

* Ensures consistent application of standards and guidelines for College materials, such as graphic identity standards

* Manages production activities, including creating printing specifications and arranging procurement of services, managing work flows, and production schedules, and assuring a quality finished product

* Prepares sensitive and high-priority communications such as speeches for use by senior management

* Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$79,188 - $86,645; Salary commensurate with education and experience.

Note: Until further notice, this position is hybrid with a 70% onsite presence.
