Job Overview:
Answers all incoming calls promptly and courteously. Always projects an optimal image of the hospital, handling callers in a professional, courteous and helpful manner. Responds immediately to all notifications of emergency situations and follows current policy and procedure to notify all involved parties and that the proper announcement repeated the appropriate number of times. Gains a clear understanding of each caller s request and processes the call appropriately, sending the call to the correct destination on the first attempt. Demonstrates a thorough awareness of and familiarity with information resources in the department by being able to locate information. Screens all non-patient long distance telephone calls not allowed by the extension s class of service. Make periodic scheduled and unscheduled announcements over the public address system, delivering them at the scheduled time, and in a clear, pleasant voice. Initiates group pages as appropriate.
Qualifications:
Required:
* High school graduate or equivalent
* Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
* Knowledge of hospital operations and/or console operations of an Avaya Telephone system
* Good oral skills
* English is a must, second language a plus
Essential Functions:
Instructs users and patients on proper operation of telephones.
* Demonstrates knowledge of telephones and system features and willingness to share knowledge such as:
Able to explain use of basic features such as transfer, hold, conference
Able to perform basic troubleshooting with user having telephone problems.
Demonstrates ability to screen calls and transfer calls to appropriate area.
Successfully assists in the support of telephone and TV activation for patients.
Successfully communicates on call schedule as needed.
Demonstrates knowledge of code system and responds appropriately following established procedures.
Successfully reports all telephone issues to the Help Desk for remediation.
Demonstrates knowledge of long distance paging system and is able to initiate an individual page and/or group page following established guidelines and uses system appropriately.
Consistently maintains discretion and confidentiality.
Demonstrates ability to utilize power fail phones.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
