This role is pivotal in expanding the organization's community outreach by engaging businesses, fostering partnerships, and implementing a comprehensive content strategy to raise awareness and support for Aviva's programs and services. The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to craft compelling content that drives engagement and builds meaningful connections with stakeholders.Essential FunctionsCommunity Engagement & Business OutreachBuild and maintain relationships with businesses to secure partnerships, sponsorships, and donations to support Aviva's programs and services.Act as the primary point of contact for businesses, cultivating long-term partnerships that align with Aviva's mission and values.Organize and participate in community outreach events to raise awareness of Aviva's work and engage businesses in volunteer opportunities or fundraising efforts.Content Strategy & DevelopmentImplement and build on Aviva's content strategy that promotes its programs, people, and successes across digital platforms (social media, website, email newsletters).Collaborate with program staff to collect and share impactful stories, statistics, and program highlights to engage the community and increase visibility.Create high-quality written, visual, and video content that tells the story of Aviva's work, targeting different audience segments, including potential donors, volunteers, and partners.Manage the organization's social media accounts, creating regular posts and campaigns to drive engagement and grow followers.Marketing & CommunicationsAssist in creating marketing collateral (print and digital) to support outreach and fundraising efforts.Manage the content production of the annual impact report.Ensure that all communications are aligned with Aviva's brand voice, messaging, and mission.Draft press releases, coordinate media outreach, and manage the organization's media contact database.Help maintain and update Aviva's website with current content and events.Support internal communications, including agency staff newsletter, as well as critical agency messaging, as necessary and appropriate.Event SupportAssist in planning and promoting fundraising events and community engagement activities, including identifying opportunities for business sponsorships and participation.Collaborate with event staff to ensure business partnerships are highlighted and promoted at events.Sensitive and responsive to the cultural differences among the agency's client population.Actively participate in quality improvement projects.The Communications & Outreach Coordinator will take on special projects or additional duties as assigned by the Vice President of Development or President/Chief Executive Officer.Competency RequirementsStrong written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to create compelling content.Experience with social media management, website content updates, and email marketing platforms.Ability to engage and build relationships with business leaders, community members, and other stakeholders.Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.Familiarity with graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Suite) and MetaSuite, and WordPress is a plus.Passion for supporting children and families and advancing Aviva's mission.Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.Ability to maintain confidentiality.Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of employees.Ability to use logic and reason to solve problems.Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.Advanced MS Office Skills (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) required.Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.2+ years of experience in community outreach, communications, marketing, or a related role, ideally within the nonprofit sector.Certifications/LicensesValid CA driver's license.Additional RequirementsTuberculosis clearance.Department of Justice/Fingerprint clearance.Satisfactory completion of health screening.Proof of legal eligibility to work in the United States.Delegates Authority ToN/APhysical DemandsWhile performing the duties of Communications & Community Coordinator, the employee is frequently required to sit and use their fingers to manipulate a keyboard or writing instrument. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, bend, and lift objects greater than 10 pounds. The employee is rarely required to drive or run.Work EnvironmentThe work environment is indoors.
