Natcast (short for The National Center for the Advancement of Semiconductor Technology) is a new, purpose-built, non-profit entity created to operate the National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC) consortium, established by the CHIPS Act of the U.S. government.Working at Natcast represents an opportunity to help extend America's leadership in semiconductor technology, significantly reduce the time and cost of moving from idea to commercialization, and build and sustain a semiconductor workforce development ecosystem.These efforts to advance semiconductor technology and seed new industries built on the capabilities of a wide range of advanced chips hold the potential to benefit the country and the world for generations to come.Communications Specialist In this role, you will be responsible for managing the content calendar, team-specific events, and other corporate communications duties as they relate to the Natcast brand and its Workforce Development, Research & Development (R&D), or Membership teams, Every day, you will contribute to the development of communication strategies, create and curate engaging content, and support the planning, marketing, and execution of team events that highlight the innovative work being done at Natcast within your assigned focus area. Whether it's cutting-edge semiconductor research, workforce development initiatives, or member engagement programs, you will play a crucial part in effectively communicating the organization's mission, achievements, and initiatives. To thrive in this role, you must have excellent written and oral communications skills, experience or working knowledge across a variety of owned, earned, shared, and paid marketing and communications tactics, and the ability to translate complex technical information into compelling narratives across multiple channels for diverse audiences. You must also have strong project management skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a specialized team. Natcast is a purpose-built, non-profit entity established by the CHIPS Act to operate the National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC) consortium. As a key component of the CHIPS and Science Act, Natcast is dedicated to advancing semiconductor R&D in the United States, convening government, industry, and academia to address the most challenging barriers to technological progress in the domestic semiconductor industry. This reflects a once-in-a-generation opportunity for the U.S. to drive innovation, set standards, and re-establish global leadership in semiconductor design and manufacturing. The Communications Specialist plays a vital role in Natcast's mission by effectively communicating the organization's initiatives, successes, and impact to various stakeholders. This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the visibility and understanding of Natcast's work in advancing the semiconductor industry. Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive content calendar for your assigned focus area (R&D, Workforce, or Membership) while ensuring Natcast brand alignment and elevation
  • Create engaging content for various platforms, including website articles, social media posts, newsletters, and press releases
  • Coordinate and manage team-specific events, including webinars, workshops, and conferences
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop accurate and compelling narratives about Natcast's initiatives and achievements
  • Work with the Digital Marketing Manager to support social media content creating and dissemination
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to support key initiatives and programs
  • Monitor and report on communication metrics and adjust strategies as needed
  • Assist in the development of presentation materials for leadership and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate with other communication team members to ensure consistent messaging across the organization
  • Stay informed about industry trends and developments to inform communication strategies
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, such as designers or event planners, as needed
Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience in corporate communications, preferably in a technology or research-focused organization
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Strong understanding of marketing and communication platforms and best practices
  • Experience managing content calendars and coordinating events
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into engaging content for diverse audiences
  • Proficiency in content management systems and social media management tools
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with various teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in science or technology communications
  • Familiarity with the semiconductor industry or related fields
  • Knowledge of graphic design principles and experience with design software such as Canva
  • Experience with video production and editing
  • Proficiency in data visualization and infographic creation
