JOB SUMMARY / ACCOUNTABILITY:The Communications Specialist will promote Matrix Human Services brand and identity to our community, partners, and wider audiences. As the Communications Specialist, this person will be responsible for developing our success stories from inception to completion to create a more positive professional presentation for digital purposes They should have understanding of story fundamentals, keen sense of newsworthiness with great interviewing and writing skills to deliver Matrix's tone of voice across multiple channels. The selected candidate will have a background in creating communication plans and in designing content strategies to meet goals. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure content shared on digital channels is optimized to achieve marketing objectives.
- Demonstrated excellence in running social media accounts, particularly as it pertains to organic user growth and engagement.
- Create graphics and visuals to accompany and enhance communication.
- Generate ideas for content and marketing campaigns.
- Understanding of Matrix Human Services overall programming, fundraising, communications, and advocacy objectives
- Assist in crafting communication strategies.
- Write and produce quality content, taking into account conventions and limitations of social media platforms.
- Manage company websites and respond to feedback on social media.
- Use content creation and editing software to create quality content.
- Track analytics to measure effectiveness and efficiency of digital marketing campaigns.
- Assist in communication strategies or messages from senior leadership.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office, marketing computer software and online applications (CRM tools, online analytics, Google AdWords, SEO, etc.)
- Work effectively both independently and with an interdisciplinary team.
- Effectively manage time, information, and meet deadlines.
- Multi-task and apply critical thinking skills with a high degree of accuracy in a high-volume setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain a positive relationship with clients, agency staff, coworkers, senior staff, referring sources, community resources and contractors.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree and three or more years of related experience
Note: Equivalent combinations of education and experience that could provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities, will be evaluated on an individual basis.
- Strong commitment to teamwork and problem solving, as well as the ability to act independently.
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners to coordinate and oversee the story collection, production, and distribution process.
- Broad understanding of social and digital media and their 'best practice'
- Sound and Video production/editing
- Desire to continually evolve personal understanding of marketing and social media trends.
- Ability to storyboard ideas for approval.
- Extensive experience across a variety of media with multiple file formats
- Ongoing commitment to improving skills, acquiring new technical knowledge, and staying current with innovative design trends.
- Should have portfolio relevant activities.
WORKING AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Ability to lift up to 20 Lbs.
- Ability to traverse stairs and other uneven terrain to gain access to and to maneuver throughout offsite locations including office buildings and special event locations.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
