Job Description:

* Target hiring range is $35.44-$36.85*

Individual provides direct oversight to all telecommunications dispatchers. Dispatchers are responsible for dispatching local law enforcement to emergency situations in the county. Individual will be required to oversee and supervise the daily operations of the dispatch center for the Delaware County Sheriff's Office. Individual will report to the Director of Communications and Records.

Applicant must have five (5) years of dispatching experience. Two (2) years of supervisory experience preferred. Applicants must have a clean criminal history and a valid Ohio Driver's License. Applicants must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study preferred.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Impeccable integrity, ethics and professionalism, excellent written and verbal communication, ability to effectively multi-task; advanced critical thinking, computer and technical skills.

* Supervises dispatchers and related communications services to include but not limited to, assigning work, planning and estimating work requirements, adjusting work assignments to accommodate extended absences/vacations, monitoring performance, training employees, and resolving personnel and/or departmental problems; Including administering discipline.

* Assigns and reviews the workload of direct supports to ensure compliance and accuracy with set standards, conformance to policy, and timely completion of work;

* Meets with the direct supervisor on a regular basis to review programs, polices procedures, decisions and outcomes and to facilitate planning of activities for the dispatchers;

* Coordinates the activities and schedule of communications personnel;

* Coordinates installation and maintenance of communications equipment;

* Testify at trials, hearings or grand juries;

* Performs quality assurance reviews on dispatcher's work product;

* Drive and set up mobile command;

* Participate in on-call status;

NON ESSENTIAL

* Performs special assignments as directed;

* Maintains professional training;

* Writes monthly, quarterly, and annual reports;

* Participates and assists with a variety of special projects as requested.

* Performs related Essential and Non-Essential functions as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Equipment: Incumbent performs sedentary work which may require lifting up to fifteen (15) pounds occasionally.

Physical Activity: Incumbent performs the following physical activities: climbing, stooping, reaching, walking, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.

Visual Activity: Incumbent performs work where the seeing job is close to the eyes.

Job Location: Incumbent works inside and outside with protection from weather

Conditions; but not necessarily from temperature changes; however, employee is exposed to noise sufficient enough to causes the employee to shout in order to be heard.

II. RESPONSIBILITY

Incumbent assigns tasks, monitors the progress of work, observes and reviews radio request/ messages, recommends actions and evaluates results. Supervisor provides general guidance allowing the individual the ability to plan the procedures and methods to attain objectives and gives technical or detailed assistance when needed. Individual makes choices or decisions without supervisory input on most daily activities, such as daily staffing, scheduling tasks, establishing priorities, approving leave time, and modifying procedures relative to Communications. Supervisor provides instructions regarding new legislation, policy changes and statutes.

III. PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS

Incumbent has contact with co-workers, employees in the department, other supervisors, public and private sector employees, court and law enforcement personnel, and the general public. The purpose of these contacts is to monitor the status of calls dispatched, coordinate the support of other law and / or emergency services, and obtain information and direct personnel.
