Day (United States of America)Department:100 - 836500 TG - Communication (PBX)Position Description: Primarily responsible for the management and programming of voice and numeric communication systems (e.g. telephones and pagers) and related hardware and software across the Health System as well as CATV systems, and Audio/Video systems. Qualifications:Associate or Bachelor degree in Telecommunications, MIS, Engineering or other computer science related field preferred.Two years of telecommunication system management experience preferred.Knowledge of telecommunications, call distribution operating systems, PBX, voicemail, paging, networking theory and call-center environment systems preferred.Strong critical thinking, analytic and problem solving skills preferred.Excellent interpersonal communication, writing and documentation skills preferred.A. Technical1. Manages inventory of communication hardware (e.g. telephones, cell phones, wireless phones, pagers)2. Facilitates additions, moves and/or changes of telephones or telephone services.3. Programs and configures telephone software as needed with the ability to do so locally or remotely.4. Builds and monitors telephone call volume reports and/or other call metrics as requested.5. Administrates telephone features, including but not limited to, auto-attendants, telephone conferencing, answering/forwarding features and voice mail system.6. Manages and monitors efficient utilization of communication devices.7. Interfaces with telephone and other communication device vendors (desktop, cell or others) as directed in order to timely and effectively provide new services, maintenance and/or repairs.8. Responsible for day-to-day activities involved in the effective and efficient operation of the telecommunications network(s)9. Evaluates new service offerings and investigates opportunities to leverage existing voice communication technologies.10. Participates in the planning, design, operations, and maintenance strategy of communication systems which serve the Health System or any department or entity thereof.11. Performs other duties as assigned.B. Communications1. Multi-tasks and communicates effectively to internal and external clients and supervisors2. Remains abreast of new technologies and makes recommendations to Communications/I.T. leadership3. Provides training as needed/requested to designated personnel4. Keeps management informed of unusual maintenance problems and user response to repairs and general services.C. Dependability1. Oversees and manages communication related projects as assigned2. Performs work in a self-directed manner recognizing urgent and important matters.D. Standards of Practice1. Responsible for maintaining competency in all above categories for all ages of patients served through the Communications Department.
