Starboard Industries is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business that specializes in a unique range of services that can extend anywhere around the world from the front gate, to the data in the cloud. Starboard Industries offers technology services which include: barrier systems, complete surveillance systems, migrating/syncing existing ECM systems, enabling centralized access points, controlling content repositories, as well ask government and private industry supply needs. Starboard Industries is seeking qualified electronic security personnel for the Maryland, Washington DC and West Virginia Region in support of a five-year low-voltage systems maintenance and support contract. We are searching for the right Communications Technician skilled in the most current installation, testing, termination, and maintenance procedures for electronic security systems devices, access control devices, Intrusion Detection, Perimeter Fencing, Automated Gate, and CCTV systems at commercial and/or government facilities. The Communications Technician must possess the ability to support the installation and maintenance of structured cabling, access control, intrusion detection, and CCTV system devices.Job Responsibilities: Install cable support infrastructure systems such as conduits, cable trays and j-hooks Install, terminate, and test Cat 5e, Cat 6, Cat 6A ScTP cable systems according to Starboard Industries, client's standards, and EIA/TIA and BICSI standard requirements. Install, terminate, and test single mode and multimode fiber optic cable systems according to Starboard Industries, client's standards, and EIA/TIA and BICSI standard requirements. Install, terminate, and test coaxial cable systems according to Starboard Industries, client's standards, and EIA/TIA and BICSI standard requirements. Install outside plant cable systems consisting of multipair copper and fiber optic cabling systems. Ensure grounding and fire stopping procedures are compliant with applicable standards and codes. Install CCTV cameras and Access Control Devices per drawings and Program Manager direction. Provide first line of quality assurance during installations. Report to Manager or Project Leader about any potential problems related to a job.Required Qualifications: Pass a background check with showing no criminal background and/or be able to get a government issued clearance. U.S. citizenship Pass a drug screening test Reliable transportation with a valid driver's license. A clean driving record is required, and candidate must provide a DMV record. 3+ years of experience in cable/fiber installation Strong work ethic and attention to detail Be on time, if not early, for project/meeting start times Read and understand blueprints and floor plans Be able to communicate well, both orally and written Experience with Microsoft Office programs, including Word and Excel Ability to submit accurate timesheets, expense reports, and other company documentationAdditional Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred BICSI and structured cabling manufacturer certificates Knowledge and experience with fiber installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance Knowledge and experience with distributed antenna systems (DAS) installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance Experience with Fluke DTX/DSX or similar testing equipment Knowledge of electronic security systems such as access control and CCTVPlease provide a list of relevant certifications for review. Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing duties of the job, Communications Technicians will frequently be required to stand; walk; sit; bend; stoop; kneel; climb; pull; push; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The Communications Technician will frequently be required to lift 75 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can become high depending on the equipment being used at the job site.
