Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.Job Overview:As our Community Center Ministries Aide, you will support the Youth Ministries Coordinator and Community Center Ministries Coordinator to provide activities primarily for youth and seniors that encourage physical fitness, STEM engagement, personal development and spiritual growth.What You Will Do: • Assist in coordinating games and activities in conjunction with program directors.• Oversee care of youth who attend The Salvation Army Programs or events. • Provide supervision, direction, and communication to program volunteers.• Maintain order and discipline in assigned areas, according to program guidelines.• Lead programs in some cases; in others, for example when we have an leader from an outside organization, provide additional adult supervision and ensure The Salvation Army policies are observed.• Clean and properly close designated areas prior to conclusion of each shift.• Be punctual, polite, and respectful. • Maintain daily sign in/out records, and statistical data for all programs while working. • Train participants in proper care and use of games and equipment. • Provide prayer and Bible devotional before each community center ministry such as archery, dance, futsal, and others• Serve as a leader for THRIVE Youth Programs and provide spiritual support for those programs and participants.• Engage with participants to provide encouragement and advice from a Biblical worldview perspective• Take advantage of opportunities to pray with community center ministries participants and encourage them to be persons of prayer• Serve on staff for Summer Day Camp • Promote the mission of The Salvation Army and the Corps' Cultural Mission Statement.• Must be dependable, organized, thorough, and able to work with little supervision. • Communicate expectations (example: times, equipment usage, clean up) to each group using our facility. • Complete security check and lock up at the conclusions of programs. • Maintain confidentiality and comply with The Salvation Army's Safe From Harm program. • Assist in monitoring community population for changes in demographics, interests and needs as it relates to Corps program growth and sustainability.• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with community members, co-workers and supervisors. This includes, but is not limited to such actions as: conflict management; courteous treatment of staff, visitor and community members; respect of property and persons; appropriate communication to and about community members, co-workers and supervisors. • Potential, if desired, for temporary increase in hours during the Christmas seasonin support of Red Kettle Campaign. • All other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.Education: High School Diploma or equivalentBackground Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed. Certifications: Must have reliable transportation. A valid driver's license preferred. Must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employmentSkills/Abilities: • Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
