Position Summary: The position of Community Center Outreach Ministry Manager is to plan and coordinate age-appropriate programs that will implement short-term and long-term recreational programming with a vision for numeric growth, spiritual and character development and evangelism. This position is responsible to the Corps Officers and will oversee the development, implementation, promotion, evaluation and daily operation of a balanced and comprehensive ministry for all ages, utilizing the community center facilities.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the daily operation of the Community Center programs including:
- Developing and scheduling cooperative ventures with community groups to utilize community center facilities with the goal of increasing participation, satisfaction, and revenue via recreational programming
- Managing community center/gym staff by scheduling work shifts, setting clear goals, providing constructive feedback and training opportunities, and fostering a collaborative work environment to enhance performance
- Providing oversight and coordinating programming with instructors, coaches, volunteers, referees, and group leaders for effective recreational programming, including facility and program rules, coaching code of conduct, and coaching techniques
- Working in partnership with the Corps Officers to provide Christian Education and spiritual mentoring to individuals and groups participating in community center programming through evangelistic outreach, visitation, and leading prayer
- Maintaining a clean and well-kept community center facility, proper accounting of supplies and equipment related to recreational programming, and coordinating upkeep and additional needs with custodial staff and the Corps Officers as necessary
- Providing timely and accurate record keeping of program elements including statistical reports, accounting of expenditures and collections, program evaluations, and the processing of any additional Territorial/Divisional required registration or reporting
- Collection and proper handling of program fees
- Coordinate marketing needs associated with community center programming
- Follow Safe From Harm guidelines
- Coordinate with the Corps Officers in development, preparation, and delivery of applications for funding opportunities from United Way and other funding sources
- Network with outside organizations to garner support and further the mission of The Salvation Army within the community by initiating and building positive relationships, communicating with local community groups, churches, task forces, councils, etc. and participating in local events and/or speaking engagements with or on behalf of The Salvation Army Community Center as may be assigned or directed
- Maintain a working relationship with all local and state agencies associated with our community center programming ensuring the property and program conform to all applicable health, safety and licensing requirements
- Provide for timely preparation of all external agency reporting, statistics, and maintenance of any other pertinent records appropriate to this position and required by law for the ongoing operation of the community center
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist the community center/gym programs when appropriate
- Work in coordination with Divisional Headquarters staff to maximize opportunities, tools and training as related to community center programming
- Maintain a neat and organized file system according to The Salvation Army standards and policies while observing confidentiality
- Assist with general office duties and phones, as needed
- Assist with seasonal programs, as needed
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years college level education in physical education, child psychology or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Two (2) years or more experience in youth and adult recreational
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Maintain strict confidentiality
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
- Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint
- Willingness to learn new software as needed
Certificates and Licenses:
- Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
- Must have and maintain a current valid chauffeur's driver's license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR)
