Job DescriptionSchedule:Mon-Fri 9am-5pm (Some flexibility required based on the needs of the people served) Salary:$50,000 / year The Community Connector MA DS plays a central role in developing staff ability and programming designedto build connections between persons served and their communities. He or she assist people served (PS) tobuild new relationships, develop connections in their local communities, and live valued lives embraced byfriends and family. The Community Connector demonstrates a passionate commitment to help people withdisabilities build new relationships and community connections. He or she works flexible hours based on theneeds of the individuals served. The essential job duties/responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the information listed below:
- Mentors and trains DSP and PD staff on how to support the people they work with to develop newvirtual and face-to-face relationships and establish meaningful community connections.
- Works collaboratively with the Direct Support Professionals (DSP) and Program Directors (PD) indeveloping their skills in creating and sustaining community connections and problem-solving whendifficulties arise.
- Models' relationship-building and connecting with groups, citizens, and organizations in localcommunities.
- Promotes and supports a gradual cultural move away from the social limitations and isolationexperienced by people with disabilities.
- Helps staff develop community plans for PS based on their primary interests, talents, and dreams.
- Develops plans that will motivate staff buy-in and appreciation of the importance of communityconnections, the relationships we all enjoy in our lives (friends, family), and the devastating impact ofloneliness

- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred. High School Diploma or GED required.
- Three or more years' experience with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities or a similar population.
- Two or more years of experience required
- Driving is a requirement for this position using either a Vinfen van or a personal vehicle. If using a personal vehicle, you must possess and maintain adequate insurance as well as maintain a safe driving record which is subject to annual checks. A valid driver's license must be presented at the time of employment. Incumbentsmust be at least 21 years of age, have maintained a valid US driver's license for at least one year, and must be able to pass a driver's screening background check
- Must be able to become CPR, First Aid within two weeks of hire and Safety Care certified within 90 days of hire.
- Must be able to successfully pass a CORI, reference and employment verification background checks.
