Job Description Summary:
GW's Division for Student Affairs engages and supports student learning by creating and fostering communities that promote personal development. The Student Affairs team is comprehensive and collaborative and supports the mission to be academically rigorous and simultaneously student-centered.
The Community Coordinator (CC) is responsible for implementing the vision, mission, goals, and priorities of Campus Living and Residential Education (CLRE) at the George Washington University in the residence halls for residential students. In collaboration with other CCs, CCs are responsible for the oversight of a residential community and serve as a point of contact for residential students. CCs develop the community environment and identity of their residence hall. CCs provide high-level customer service and direct supervision of different types of student staff to facilitate the development of communities, foster a sense of belonging, promote health and wellbeing, and support the residents' learning.
CCs coordinate interventions and high-level support to students and their families, manage complex incidents and resident needs, and collaborate with stakeholders across the university to ensure students thrive as members of the GW community. This position includes responsibility for a variety of administrative, operational, and conference-related functions associated with the management of the residence hall/apartment community. During the summer, CCs oversee the management of summer residential students, which includes interns, short-term and long-term stays, and summer students.
Position Summary
This position is a live-in position and does require weekend and after-hours work.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Qualified candidates are required to live on campus as a condition of employment.
